Engage Plus: Jobs
i had a look through the jobs section of engage plus to see what jobs were out there and what kind of opportunities they offer. at this stage in my career i would be more than happy to volunteer, or offer to assist for free. i saw that some of the photographer volunteer jobs advertised, required a dslr camera, to create fast, high definition images that were instantly accessible. i don’t actually own a dsrl camera since mine got robbed last year, as i prefer film and the analogue side of photography. it is clear that this is definitely something i should consider doing if i want to take up volunteering for charities i believe in, as they wouldn’t want to wait around for the film to be developed. this was a valuable insight into requirements of the industry, and how i would have to adapt myself in order to gain the experience i long for. after looking through this section, i also realised the kind of opportunities i wouldn’t want to apply for, the ones that wouldn’t tailor me towards the path i intend to go. for example, there were jobs advertised to do with social media, and fashion/advertisement, two aspects i don’t want to delve too much into due to the impact they have on society. it is more important for me to gain experience in sectors i believe in, that will help my photography take form
