i hadn’t created a cv tailored towards my photography yet, i only had one that was intended to get me part time work. it was confusing at first as i had only had experience in two long term jobs, and no photography experience at all. i found that it was important for me to still adjust my cv, so i was able to start getting this experience i long for in photography. i went for a meeting with abigail, who gave me lots of advice as to how i would alter my cv to make it appropriate for applying for internships, assisting photographers etc. she spoke mainly of transferable skills, and which skills from the work experience i already have, would be required in any photographic jobs. for example, the ability to work in a fast pace environment. we went through my cv thoroughly, which gave me the confidence and knowledge to be able to create my new cv

before i wrote my new cv, i went onto engage plus and used the advice on cv planning and writing. i made a basic plan on how i would layout my cv, and the headings i would have. i then wrote a brief example of the kind of information i would include under each heading. abigail was also a big help in advising me on which headings to include

i mostly completely rewrote my cv, and tailored it towards photography, including the technical skills that would be required and valued. i also included a short bit about my interests outside of photography, to show a bit more of my personality and other aspects of my life i am dedicated to

i created my cv on indesign, an adobe programme i have some experience in using, which in turn, helped me develop my skills in that software. i wanted to add to the aesthetics of the cv, to highlight myself as a creative individual, although, i kept it simple and easy to read. i also wanted to use a similar layout within the cv, as i did on my portfolio, which i created on indesign last week. i then went on engage plus and followed the checking cv advice, so i could be certain that i had included everything i should of, and not made any obvious mistakes. i still wanted my cv to be individual, but this advice showed me more of what employers expect, and what they would take from initially only reading your cv for 30seconds

i went through some of the assessments on engage plus, the ones i felt that were most relevant to me and would help me understand myself. its important for me to understand my strengths and weaknesses, the aspects of my personality that would benefit me in my future career path, and the things i would need to be aware of and focus on adapting. the temperament assessment was the most eyeopening for me, as it seemed to fully understand the way i work and seemed to match the path i wish to take in my future. i was an INFP: very sensitive and intuitive, often creative and enjoy helping others to develop through insight. they have strongly held values and need to feel they are living their lives according to those beliefs. they are excellent listeners and make very good mediators, but they dislike being personally involved in conflict. they are driven, sincere people, genuinely interested in understanding others and will fight passionately to defend a cause they believe in. they are idealists, always looking for meaning in their life and striving to make the world a better place

through my career path i aim to strive to raise awareness about issues that are close to my heart, including climate change and the dark side of society. it was interesting that my results from this assessment came out and showed me this. ‘would be happiest in a role that resonates with their core values and is more of a career than a job’. my creative side is motivated through the beliefs i hold about the world we live in, making a difference is more important to me than the status or money i could get from my chosen career. i am introverted as well for sure, which leads me to believe in my future i would benefit more from conducting my own photographic projects with funding, or working in a small team or forming small collaborations. i am quite an independent individual, but am extremely motivated. the motivation at work assessment did reflect this high level of work ethic and energy i have towards projects and within the workplace
