Well, that was nowhere near as intense as I thought it would be.

Turns out that beneath the intimadating ‘ENG1′ name lays a very simple medical that should be passable by anyone in good health. Mine took about twenty minutes and included:

Blood pressure test.

A basic eye test (peripheal vision test, reading off of a board etc).

A basic hearing test (pitches and tones, left and right).

A weight and height check (I expected to be called out on the weight point but nothing was said. I could do with losing a couple of stone but still, I’m not chunky enough to be worried about).

A very quick physical check (herneas, blockages etc. It took all of 3 or 4 minutes).

A few simple questions (family medical history, drinking and smoking etc).

A urine test.

And that was it, signed off and officially healthy enough to go to sea. I mean, I still need my jabs so I guess the worst is still to come but it’s a good start.

Now I just need to get a couple of bits countersigned, the paperwork sent off and we should be good to go!

INTRODUCTION

  1.       Write a well-developed and well-organised 5-paragraph process writing essay

2.       Apply the right processes for this kind of expository writing

DISCIPLINE SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGETHINKING AND PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS

In this assignment we were grouped into teams to present an oral presentation titled 'Future City' where we create a future city and orally present it to the class.I was grouped with Tang Ze Zheng, Hor Weng Lim, Aaron Ngu and Wah Yun Chuen. Although I only got 17/25 I learned the tricks and trades of an oral presentation.

INTRODUCTION

This assignment evaluates oral presentation and speaking skills. It also evaluates the student’s ability to research information and present an effective presentation of his/her research. In addition, being a group assignment, each student will experience cooperating and collaborating with other peers as a team with a common goal.

  OBJECTIVES OF ORAL        PRESENTATION

The objectives of this project are as follows:

To provide students with basic oral presentation skills.

    The learning outcomes of this assignment are:

              Ability to deliver an effective presentation by applying the elements of an effective speaker in four main areas namely voice projection, body language, content as well as organization of the content. 

  Analyse and listen to conversations in various interactive, social, professional and academic situations.

Identify the main idea and gist from lectures and talks.
