    How long had things been this way? How long had he been scrambling to do everything he could for his son? When was the last time he had looked forward to awakening in the morning?       He believed hardships fell upon children as well, they didn’t always know what they were doing. But responsibility fell upon the parents that brought them to their current point. Where had he gone so wrong?      Thoughts clouded his mind, brought daggers to his chest and a noose to his throat. He felt bound by chains and weighed down by the ocean. He saw nothing but darkness, hopeless breathes intermingling with dead end roads. He had exhausted his options, and it was beginning to catch up with him.      Set at the kitchen table he held his face buried in his hands, tears falling from his cheeks to the hardwood table.      Where had it all derailed?     Shaking muscles more apparent than the ragged breathes he did his best to control. He could hardly hear the footsteps coming down the stairs as he slowly stood to grab a bottle of wine from the cabinet. Without the decency of a glass he took a long drink.  @lowrent-gerardway
