Something i once thought about id is how many people are part of the studio and how many of them are recognized.
Because with 90's id, we know of Romero, Carmack, Carmack, Petersen, Hall, Cloud, McGee, Wilbur, Prince etc.
But with modern id, besides Martin or Stratton and Mick Gordon, there's also some names related to tech or level design or art direction that pop around.
But there's always people that work at id, yet are barely noticed.
It's obviously a side effect of the gaming industry getting bigger and maybe how many people associate a game with a "director" or a team.
Perhaps indie games don't have this problem as often.
With old id, there's some devs who built their own legacies unrelated to Doom or Quake like McGee or Petersen.
This makes EmptyVessel interesting because they're another case of "former id devs doing their thing" but with modern id era.
It also goes back to what i said about game directors and how common or not that idea is with the current state of the industry (Even suggesting thar Mick Gordon was "the name" associated with modern Doom and relate that to why Mart Stratton treated him like shit).
EmptyVessel, which consists of former id devs (Modern id but still) and Mick Gordon, released a trailer for their game: Defect.
