रेकी क्या है ? रेकी जापानी भाषा का शब्द है जो ‘ रे ‘ और ‘ की ‘ दो शब्दों से मिलकर बना है। ‘ रे ‘ का अर्थ है सर्वव्यापी अर्थात ओम्नीप्रेजेंट तथा ‘ की ‘ का अर्थ है जीवन शक्ति या प्राण अर्थात लाइफ फोर्स। इस प्रकार रेकी वह ईश्वरीय अथवा आध्यात्मिक ऊर्जा है , जो इस समस्त ब्रह्माण्ड में हमारे चारों ओर व्याप्त है। हम सब इसी जीवन शक्ति को लेकर पैदा होते हैं और इसी के द्वारा जीवन जीते हैं। समय के साथ-साथ अनेक कारणों से जब हमारे शरीर में इस ऊर्जा का प्रवाह कम हो जाता है अथवा इसका संतुलन बिगड़ जाता है , तभी हमारा शरीर रोगों की ओर आकर्षित होता है।

रेकी द्वारा उपचार या रेकी साधना में हम इसी सर्वव्यापी जीवन शक्ति का उपयोग अपने लाभ के लिए करते हैं। प्रार्थना क्या है ? हमारा प्रत्येक कर्म हमारे जीवन को निर्धारित करता है और कर्म के मूल में उपस्थित होता है ‘ विचार ‘ । अत: हमारे विचार ही हमारा जीवन निर्धारित करते हैं। हर विचार एक प्रार्थना की तरह कार्य करता है। हमारे विचार एक तरह से प्रतिज्ञापन या स्वीकारोक्ति हैं। हम जो चाहते हैं उसकी स्वीकारोक्ति। प्रार्थना भी एक स्वीकारोक्ति है। हमारे मन में अनेक इच्छाएं जाग्रत होती रहती हैं। हम ईश्वर से जो चाहते हैं , वह भाव सदैव हमारे मन में बना रहता है। अत: हमारा हर भाव , हमारा हर संकल्प प्रार्थना ही है। हमारी इच्छाएं , हमारे विचार या भाव अथवा संकल्प कैसे हों यह अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है न कि प्रक्रिया। प्रार्थना क्योंकि एक भाव है , अत: यह करने की वस्तु नहीं है। यह स्वत: ही घटित होती है। भाव को नियंत्रित करने की जरूरत है। भाव प्रदूषण से बचने के लिए जरूरी है कि हमारे विचार सदैव सकारात्मक रहें। सकारात्मक विचारों का पोषण ही वास्तविक प्रार्थना है।
