Logging onto Tumblr dot com and finding several Happy Mask Salesman fans who have never heard of the Terrible Fate animation by Ember Lab. This has had such a cultural impact on so many Zelda fans, it's like finding people who have never heard of the Mona Lisa. I am clearly not glazing this animation hard enough. This—
—is where all of my bs started.
Majora's Mask is already a very important game to me on all other levels, but EmberLabs putting out this high-quality tribute with a new sliver of attention and added perspective to this very underdeveloped character and my watching it on a random weekend at a hangout with my friends in high-school (after getting "durhur you look like the Happy Mask Salesman" comments from them for years as a negative tease) only to gain a whole new perspective on my smile and face cuz of how damn cute they made him is what motivated me to start doodling him down and subsequently cosplaying him.
I don't want to take any credit, but it's hard not to notice the snowball of new-gen HMS fans that have risen up after I started posting, so if my content has had any amount of influence on your enjoyment of this character and you HAVEN'T seen this short, you're missing some key HMS fandom history and I am urging you to sit down to give it a watch. It's short, but gosh it's beautiful. Go support Ember Lab. (Skullkid is also in this animation and he is very, very cute!)
