“Im fine.” Cass said, softly. Steph sent her a sharp look, because seriously, and yes maybe it was just what most would consider a “graze” and “not that deep”, but Cass was still bleeding and Steph didn’t exactly carry a first aid kit around.

Also they were stuck, some of the crates from the dock blocking them in, and Cass had lost her grappling hook about fifteen minutes ago and Steph’s one for her spoiler suit wasn’t trustworthy enough to withstand the weight of the both of them.

So.

“Soooooo.” Steph said, her fingers sticky with blood because as Cass had said, it was starting to slow down, and Cass turned her head towards her. She’d pulled the bottom of the mask up so that her lips were visible, and Steph had pulled her hood off so she was only wearing a domino Bruce had given her when he was feeling particularly nice, or whatever.

“So?” Cass asked, her lips turning up into a small smile as she asked.

“Did you ever end up kissing Kon-El?” Steph asked, and immediately wanted to die because whatthefuckStephanie?

Stephanie couldn’t see it, but she knew that Cass’s eyebrows had probably shot right up, her eyes wide. The small smile on her face had disappeared, and Steph felt really guilty all of a sudden.

“Your thought process is something to be admired, Spoiler.” Cass said. Steph winced, slightly, because Cass only spoke in that tone if she was angry and now it was going to be really awkward because Steph hadn’t meant to ask that at all.

“I didn’t, though. He... We weren’t- I just didn’t think he was the right person.” Cass said, her voice soft. Steph looked at her.

“Ca- Batgirl. I’m sorry I didn’t mean to make you upset.”

Cass cocked her head in a way that read “it’s no big deal”, she opened her mouth as if to say something, but whatever it was was cut off by a clanging, and-

“Holy fuck, I found ‘em boss.” Someone yelled, and Steph snapped her head up to the top of one of the crates where some goon was standing, a walkie-talkie in one hand and gun in another.

Steph gulped, squeezed Cass’s arm for both extra compression and support, and felt Cass reach into her thigh pocket and pull out a batarang.

Steph rolled swiftly as Cass flicked the batarang up, the edge of it lodging itself into the meaty part of the guy’s shoulder. He let out a shout and Stephanie set off her grappling hook, swinging around so she kicked the guy in the face, his walkie-talkie clattering to the clearing below where Cass was, the guy landing with a thud on his back. Steph could hear the sounds of footsteps nearing, navigating the maze of fallen crates, and Steph kicked the guy again for good measure, throwing her grappling hook down for Cass who landed next to her with cat-like grace seconds later.

“How you wanna do this, Spoiler?” Cass asked, as Steph fumbled with the baton strapped to their assailant.

“You lead, Batgirl.” Steph said, pulling her hood up. Someone yelled and Steph looked down, saw as the men below split up, likely looking for ways to get to them.

Cass still had her hood up, and Steph gaped at her.

“You’re the one I wanted to kiss, by the way.” Cass said, as if that made any sense, and then she was pulling Steph up against her, the kiss wild and leaving a lot to be desired and Steph really needed to talk with her because what the hell-

Cass smiled at her. Pulled her hood down.
