The Roadhouse is quiet, the staff had gone home and the saloon is closed down for the night. Little Jo is fast asleep in her bed, she went to bed after finishing off her homework and getting tucked in by her mom and dad, having no idea that there was a rough tension between her parents, or maybe she does know, kids are aware in ways that we aren’t even aware of. Ellen is still upset with me for making arrangements to go on to this hunt with John Winchester, and upset is a docile word to actually use when it comes to Ellen Harvelle and her anger. She is pissed off, not so much because I am going off on a hunt without her, that I am partnering up with Winchester, but because I haven’t listened to her words of caution and protest. She keeps telling me that she has a bad feeling about this hunt with John Winchester, her gut tells her something is going to go wrong, and I told her that if I don’t go something will go wrong on this hunt, John might get himself killed. He has never dealt with a Wendigo before and he needs back up. I keep telling Ellen that while I do respect her gut feelings, I think she might be worried for the wrong reasons. I assure her that I will be fine, that I won’t let anything happen to me, that I will be coming home to her and Jo but Ellen just gives me that glare of her and she storms off, insulted and all the more pissed off. All night it’s been tip toing on broken glass around her, people in the Roadhouse could tell that she is pissed off with me, they felt the tension between the two of us and even Jo asked Ellen earlier if she was angry with me, and Ellen told her she still loves daddy even if he is being a jack ass. 

So I sit here alone in the quietness of the Roadhouse with a bottle of beer and juke box playing some Hank Williams tune about being so lonesome he could cry and I’m writing in this journal, telling myself that everything will be all right. This hunt will go off without a hitch. John and I will stumble back into the Roadhouse in two or three days, triumphant that we put a monster down and maybe Ellen will forgive me for not listening to her and going off on this hunt with John Winchester.
