@eliyora yeah, Brock Turner really got what he deserved after committing sexual assault, didn't he? It's almost as though the justice system cares fuck all about victims of sexual assault. Look up Adrian Bailey. He committed several rapes and sexual assaults in Australia. Was let out after minor prison sentences each time. Eventually went on to rape and kill Jillian Meagher. There are SO. MANY. MEN like Adrian Bailey scot free right now in Aus. I feel so safe walking around on the street when my country views sexual assault as trivial enough to let rapists walk around after receiving a slap on the wrist. Many men who go on to commit large scale murders and such have committed sexual assaults and been let out because... see above. Thinking the authorities and law will take you seriously and mete out justice is naive. I'm not saying don't go to the police after experiencing assault of course. I'm just saying the punishments assaulters receive are a reflection of our societal views.
And yeah, if female rape is hard enough for people to take seriously, I really, really sympathise with male rape victims because they are (very sadly) looked on as a joke. Especially when the rapist is a woman. It's fucking disgraceful and makes me angry.
Anyway, we'll just have to agree to disagree. We both harbour views the other thinks are shite. Clearly we're not going to change any minds here.
I will say this: I'm all for communication. I'm not for speaking over. Don't tell me how to feel about issues pertaining to me.
