rules: ~drop into my ask box to submit your request. ~you may submit more than one request. however, please keep it to one request per ask. ~when submitting requests, please provide as many details as possible.for example, if you are requesting a banner for your oc, tell me some things about them, such as their favorite color(s), hobbies, interests, their general vibe, etc. if you are requesting a moodboard for a fic, tell me about the fic (the vibe, details of the story, any character pairing(s) you'd like featured, etc). you get the gist of it. the more details i have to work with, the better. ~no explicit nudity will be featured, but spicy/suggestive is fine. ~anon requests will NOT be allowed for this event. this is for a couple of reasons. one, for age verification for any requests containing spicy/potentially spicy content (such as a spicy moodboard of daryl x reader, for example). i need to be able to check that your blog says you are over 18 before i would be comfortable creating that (age/age range (like "late 20s" or "30s", for example, must be present on your blog). two, for banners for ocs or fics, to ensure that you are the owner of said oc/fic (unless you are doing it as a surprise for someone else, which would need to be stated). ~if you have any pictures you'd like me to use (like an oc faceclaim or a pic of them you drew), you can submit that with your request as well.

𝄞 backstory

Eli James Vector was born on April 26th, 1977, to his parents, John and Meredith, and alongside his identical twin, Jay, who was born two minutes earlier. His big brother, Preston, two years old at the time, waited out in the hallway with his grandparents, patient but eager to meet his new siblings. Three years later, Lydia (Vec) would come along, and the four of them became as close as siblings could be. Eli's a sensitive soul who strongly values honesty, loyalty, and authenticity, and despite being the most shy & soft-spoken of the Vector kids, he loves to get to know people on a deeper level. He's fiercely protective of the people he cares about, and he considers Vec's best friend, Georgie, and her younger brother, Matt, to be like family.

When he was 12, Eli was gifted an acoustic guitar for Christmas. He'd talked to his parents about wanting to learn to play, and after enrolling him in lessons to ensure it was something he was set on learning, they decided to get him a guitar of his own. Through his lessons and practicing in his free time, his skills improved, and you'd often be able to catch him sitting on his bed and strumming random tunes when he wasn't reading or studying. He also taught himself how to read sheet music, and that, combined with his love for guitar, fueled his passion for music.

One of Eli's strongest assets is his intelligence. In school, he consistently achieved all A's, took AP courses, and joined the math club, leading the team to win multiple national competitions. He would sometimes read textbooks in his free time, which his siblings would poke fun at him for, but it never stopped him from doing so. Aside from being a straight-A student, he was well-behaved, never getting into trouble or giving anyone a hard time...aside from one occasion.

When he was 15, he was walking to the lunchroom, and he happened to pass by a guy from one of his classes talking to a girl. He caught a few things the girl was saying, such as "leave me alone," "don't touch me," and "get away from me." Eli's not the confrontational type—far from it—but he was also raised to never just stand by when someone was being harassed, especially a lady. He approached the guy, tapped him on the shoulder, and, with no warning, punched him square in the face. His classmate fell to the ground, clutching his nose and groaning as he tried to stop it from bleeding. The girl walked away, but not before giving Eli a smile and a soft "thank you." Teachers and students came running over to help the guy, and the only thing Eli said before walking away was, "I think she said to leave her alone." During his next class period, his parents were called, and he was pulled out of class to sit in the principal's office until they arrived. At first, they were both convinced it had to be some kind of mistake, that none of their kids, let alone Eli, would assault another student. But when they arrived, Eli confirmed it, making sure to share all the details about why he punched the kid in the first place, saying, "Well, what was I supposed to do? Just stand there and let it happen?" After hearing the full story, his dad replied to his last question with "you're damn right you weren't." They were proud of him for not just being a bystander and doing something about the situation when no one else would. Eli was sent home for the rest of the day and had to serve detention for a week, but he received no punishment from his parents.

One of Eli's most prized possessions is a brown knit blanket. Growing up, Eli shared a bedroom with his brothers, and when he was around 14-15, Preston would sneak his girlfriend into their room some nights. The first night it happened, the twins said they'd just sleep in the living room, but Preston was nervous about their parents getting suspicious, so Vec agreed to let them sleep in her room. Eli took his brown blanket with him, and he slept curled up on his sister's bedroom floor with it. From that day on, it became routine--Preston's girlfriend would come in, Eli would grab his brown blanket, and him & Jay would knock on Vec's bedroom door. She'd know exactly what it meant when she answered the door and saw them standing there, blankets in hand, and sometimes, they'd stay up late into the night, talking and goofing off as quietly as possible. Some nights, when his girlfriend wasn't over, Preston would join them, and those nights are some of Eli's fondest memories.

When Eli was 16, he developed a crush on a girl in one of his classes. Her name was Stacy, and she had long, silky brown hair and hazel eyes as golden as the sunrise. Being the shy guy he is, it took weeks, and a lot of encouragement from his siblings & friends, to finally talk to her. Their dynamic started as a friendship, and slowly, it blossomed into something more. After a couple of months of being friends, and overcoming fears of fucking up the friendship they'd developed, Eli asked to kiss Stacy, and of course, she said yes. Not long after that, he asked her to be his girlfriend, and the two of them were together through their senior year. She was his first everything--first kiss, first girlfriend, first time, etc. Eli doesn't formally use the word demisexual to describe himself, but that's the term that fits him best. He only feels sexual attraction to someone if he has romantic feelings for them, and he's never strayed from that. Eli & Stacy broke up towards the end of their senior year. It was mutual, and the pair agreed that, with him being off in the Navy and her heading to England for a very intense schooling & research program, the long distance would be more than either of them could handle. So as much as it hurt, they ended things, but they remained amicable until they went their separate ways after graduation.

Like Jay and Preston, Eli joined the Navy right out of high school, eventually reaching the rank of Petty Officer Second Class. He planned to complete his 20-year service & then return to school to earn his degree. Given his passion for music, he hoped to study music and one day become a music therapist, specifically to help veterans. During his service, he grew close to his bunkmate, Jethro, and the two of them eventually became best friends.

When Eli was 28, Preston was killed in a freak accident on his ship in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. It felt like part of him was missing, had died with his brother, and like his parents and siblings, to say Eli was distraught would be an understatement. He immediately went back home to Ohio to be with his family, and Jay and Vec also traveled back from base and medical school, respectively. While he was battling with his own grief, their mother fell into a deep depression, one she unfortunately would succumb to, taking her life only two months after Preston's death. He'd barely started grieving his brother, and now he had to grieve his mother as well. Despite it all, he tried his best to support his siblings and dad as well, and over time, the four of them grew even closer than before, leaning on each other through pain they'd never imagined was possible. As a tribute to his mother, he got a hummingbird tattooed on his chest over his heart, an homage to her nickname for him.

On August 25th, 2010, Eli was back home in Swanton on leave, and Jay was due to arrive in a couple of days. The two of them had a road trip planned, one that would take them camping through the mountains and eventually lead down to Atlanta, where they would stay with Vec for a bit. Those plans, though, would never pan out. Upon hearing some commotion outside, Eli encountered his first walker, and after fighting it off without so much as a scratch, he ran back inside, grabbing what he could of his belongings before scrambling to his car. As the streets filled with the dead, he took off, frantically trying to call Jay, Vec, and even his dad, who had been up in space for a few weeks by that point. Unable to reach anyone, he began driving south, hoping to either reach Atlanta or Florida, where his dad's rocket would land upon its return.

𝄢 Eli is the youngest of the brothers (being two minutes younger than his identical twin, Jay) and is 3 years older than Vec.

𝄢 He’s the shyest, most introverted, and the most ‘sensitive soul’ of the Vector siblings.

𝄢 His birthday is April 26th, and he’s 33 when the outbreak begins.

𝄢 Like his brothers, he entered the military right out of high school, joining the Navy and later becoming a SEAL and reaching the rank of Petty Officer Second Class before the outbreak.

𝄢 If he didn’t join the military, he would’ve gone on to study music in university.

𝄢 When the outbreak begins, he’s home from deployment, visiting his twin at their dad’s house.

𝄢 He learned how to play guitar when he was in middle school after receiving an acoustic guitar for Christmas.

𝄢 His favorite music genres are rock and metal. His favorite bands are Avenged Sevenfold, Slipknot, and Linkin Park.

When their oldest brother, Preston, used to have his high-school girlfriend sneak in for sleepovers, he kicked Jay & Eli out of their bedroom. They would trudge down the hall to their sister’s room, and she had blankets that they would use while they slept on her floor. Eli’s was this brown blanket, and he makes sure to take it from the house before leaving after the outbreak begins.
