This week I worked on a pair of Hufflepuff-inspired chainmaille handflowers. These were extra fun to make because the person who commissioned them is using them for Harry Potter themed dance choreography. That sounds like such wonderfully geeky fun! These are made from lightweight aluminum jump rings, silver-plated chains, matching beaded dangles, and they clasp at the wrist with a lobster clasp. 

I haven’t updated this blog in a while, so here are two bracelets I made today to match the “breathe” one I made last year. These sound like cheesy inspirational quotes, but that’s not what they mean– they’re for remembering health stuff. “Breathe” is so I remember to take deep breaths (I tend to breathe quick/shallow and this isn’t good for anxiety) and also to meditate. “Reach up” is to remember to stand up and stretch throughout the day and also to stretch before I exercise/flow. “Stand Tall” is to remember to put my shoulders back and fix my posture because I have a slouching problem that adds to back pain. I might not wear all of them at once and probably not all three on one wrist, but the breathe one has helped a lot so hopefully the other ones will too!

I can't decide which style I like better, though. The chainmaille weave only works with odd number rows and go figure, both of my flags are four colors. So for the ace flag I went with an extra row of black on the outside (four flag rows had to become five) and for the nonbinary flag I went with plain silver rows between each of the colors (so four flag rows became seven chainmaille rows). The nonbinary flag one worked out neat with the silver rows because those become almost invisible, so all you really see are the four main colors.

I'm so happy with how this robot is turning out! Right now it still looks pretty spidery, but tomorrow I'll be working on the details that make it look more like a robot. (Those are going to be paint and felt- the crochet part is done now.) I love seeing a doll go from a picture to ideas in my head to an actual 3d shape. :-D
