You may not recognize this Vivien Leigh film, and that’s because she never made it. Well, at least she didn’t finished it. In 1953, aged 39, she went to Ceylon to begin principal photography in what was about to be her next film, Elephant Walk. Her costars were Dana Andrews and aussie Peter Finch, with whom it was rumored she was having a torrid affair. After shooting on location, they all went back to Hollywood to resume shooting and that's where her mental breakdown made impossible to continue. She was taken home to England by her husband Sir Laurence Olivier for treatment, and was diagnosed with manic depression (now known as bipolar disorder), and thus she was replaced in the role by a very young and also stunningly beautiful Elizabeth Taylor. In fact they were so similar in looks that they kept Leigh's footage on location and you can see her in the distance in long shots in the final movie. I’ve always been obsessed with this movie and what would’ve been and trying to imagine how she would have looked in it. And so this is an attempt to capture her beautiful mature beauty in something that never really was. This is my special, personal homage to the talented and beautiful Vivien Leigh on her birthday. I dedicate this one to my friend, writer and poet Shiroma Perera-Nathan @peacockblues #vivienleigh #elephantwalk #Ceylon #srilanka #bipolardisoder #oldhollywood #peterfinch #laurenceolivier #AlejandroMogolloArt https://www.instagram.com/p/CklT35Mo7Ij/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
