Stressful morning for Menika 2 days ago.. 🙏🏽🐘 • 2 days ago Menika fell backwards in her nightbed and she did not have the strength to stand up on her own as she was laying in a very uncomfortable position and she already was very weak.. • After a couple hours she finally stood on her legs again because of the help of our mahouts and staff. Hi all! I (evi) finally arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday after 9 months! ❤❤ • As many people were interested in the process and my experience, here it is! • Sri Lanka finally opened its borders a couple of weeks ago but there is a whole process of things that need to be organised before you can even enter the plane to Lanka land. 🇱🇰 • As I am not vaccinated yet, I had to book a 14 day quarantine hotel. If you are vaccinated you only have to do 7 days (according to the webpage, it changes all the time) After I booked the hotel (and payed for the needed pcr tests and special insurance) I could organise my visa, with the help of the hotel. Once that was organised I could book a flight! 🛩 • 2 days before my flight I had to do a PCR test which came out negative 💪🏽 • Everything has to be done in this order and everything needs to be printed (flights, pcr test, visa, hotel booking, insurance). • As I did have everything printed out, everything went very very smoothly. Menika and Ragu 🐘🐶❤ cute little story! • Menika is actually one of the few elephants who does not really care when a dog is around, the others chase them away! • I remember seeing Menika grazing in the fields and one day the dogs started playing infront of her 🐶 • She dropped her food, stood still like a statue and dropped her head a little bit and just watched them with eyes bigger than ever!
