They learn from it being given! ✨ The word “respect” is so often conflated with the word “obey” in conventional parenting and this belief couldn’t be less helpful or farther from the truth! ✨Rather than force our kids to show immediate, superficial respect to us and others, let’s allow them to learn how to authentically and willingly FEEL it over time. ✨Rather than focus on whether our kid is respecting us, let’s turn that lens to question whether we, the authority figure with more power + privilege, are respecting THEM. ✨Rather than discipline our kids to show respect by taking away our love (fear), let’s inspire them to feel respect by showing them love (trust). ✨We like to say that the amount of respect we’re able to feel + show our kids today is the foundation for the respect they’ll ultimately be able to show themselves + others tomorrow! #ElementsofRespect #DoTheWork #ParentingIsPolitical #DismantlingDiscipline https://www.instagram.com/p/CNXHMipnT4e/?igshid=1ogh12q60cwlw
