This afternoon, a kindergartner walked into the library while I was teaching a fourth grade class. They were wearing a bag of books around their neck like a necklace (ow?) and had clearly been sent over to return the books in the bag. Instead of walking to the circulation desk though (there was even someone at it!), they walked right up to the front of my class and yelled, βHI BIG KIDS!β This student then attempted to join the class.
Big respect for a kid who's actively visualizing their future.
The librarian I'm subbing for brought her little baby in to visit and I got to hold him π₯Ή. He's so sweet! She asked if I can sub again for a month in 2026 because she might be able to get some more paid leave from the state. I already know what I'm doing so unless my husband's grandma can't watch Little Man for some reason I'll do that.
This will be my last week at the school, and I'll be honest- I'm sad. I'll miss the kids, but mostly I'll miss the books. I forgot how much I love working in a library. I worked in one of the local public libraries for a little while in high-school and then my campus library during my short time in college. I didn't always love it at the time because the amount of time I spent on my feet hurt, but working in a smaller library has been great. I've committed to doing daycare for the foreseeable future, but I kinda wish I'd be in a library instead.

Just got informed that I'm going back to work for 12 more weeks! It will be most of February until May. My husband's hours in the Twin Cities have been cut so this will be helpful to make up the difference. Thankfully he will also be going back to Montana next month.
I'm working at the school today and tomorrow! I got a text from the librarian that her poor little guy has the flu. She's in the process of trying to get bond leave so I might be coming back next month for another 12 weeks.
