N the Cat in Times of Emotional Turmoil
Apparently, N the Cat has picked up another behavior from M the Cat: compassion when Cat Mom is feeling really bad.
N the Cat is not without compassion, but it takes a lot to activate it. She stayed right by me years ago when my house was repeatedly broken into and even would come when I called her name for about 6 weeks until everything calmed down again. (Now she just looks at me if I say her name in the same room. She's not getting up for that).
Last night it became obvious around 3 am that Harris had lost the election because I was not getting any text messages from the campaign.
N the Cat looked me in the eye, recognized my emotional state, then decided to lay down on my lap and purr for a while. M the Cat would have marched right up on me and head-butted me, but N is more reserved. She rarely just opts to sit on me, but she has been more tolerant and supportive since M's death.
At 7 am she stood over me and meowed for breakfast. Support time was over. Time to get with the program.
