Norsery Rhymes from A to Z Eisa and Eimyja, Glowing Embers, and Ashes Embers - V2 Well here we are on another ThorsDay with another 20 min sketch of a Norse (and Germanic, sometimes Celtic) mythological characters. Â This week itâs a version of Eisa / Eysa and Eimyja / Einmyria of the Jotnar (Jotun / Jotunn / Jetten / Eoten / Giant / Risi) mentioned in the Eddas
Eisa / Eysa, translated as âglowing embersâ Is likely from the Proto Germanic meaning âglowingâ, âhot coalâ or a âburning fireâ. With Eimyja, translated as âAshes and Embersâ Is likely from the Proto Germanic words âaimuzjÇâ, meaning âembersâ, âhot ashâ or a âpyreâ. And âaimazâ meaning âto burnâ.
Jotuns and Daughters to the elemental god Eldr Logi / Logi / HĂĄlogi âhigh flameâ. Elemental Personification of Wildfire and described as Risi or a towering giant type of Jotun. Along with their mother the giantess Glöð / Glut / Glod âgladâ or ââglowing embersâ.
Both Eisa and Eimyja are renown for their beauty. Theyâre described as the first family of kings of Norway and their royal line. All are described initially as, unusually tall, muscular, and beautiful.
Portraying them as older and elemental versions of themselves this time. I think Iâll likely do one more elemental version and an older but human looking version after this.
