my puppy turned 1 today! behold!

There’s a certain way areolas are expected to look, especially for people with breasts. Small, pink, and flat, mostly. Circular too. If you scroll through the “body positive” tag, a large majority of people you see shirtless have areolas like that. I have seen a few posts for people with larger areolas, or brown ones, or non-circular ones, and I’m glad that they exist.But I’ve never seen a positivity post for people with puffy areolas. In my case, even before my breasts started growing, my areolas puffed up. I hoped for years that whenever my breasts stopped growing, my areolas would flatten out to look like “everyone else’s.” Spoiler alert: they didn’t. I still have puffy areolas, which make my breasts look triangle-shaped when I don’t have a bra on. And I am still extremely self conscious about it, and hate them at times. Even if I’m in pajamas in front of my roommate, I’ll refuse to take my bra off unless I’m certain no one will see me because I can’t stand how pointy they make my breasts look.

So here’s to us! There’s nothing wrong with puffy areolas and nipples. We exist!
