i hate the noise of fans but i'll open the windows all night because it gets a lot cooler at night up here and it feels so lovely omg

i might try to finish it bc KNOW UR ENEMY and all that and i feel a bit mean abut judging it from 30 pgs and ive read much worse, but, just, god, pretentiousness really fucking gets to me. im so sorry for u tbh why cant we get some cool foreign texts in here or s/t why are all curriculum so narrow and predominantly ~english~ texts be it clunky classics or the 'latest hot YA' (here some year 10s had to study the hunger games.. like im sorry thg is a nice read but u cannot write an in depth essay on it u just cant... unless it was one that purely discussed the ideas the book barely ventured much deeper into)

im gonna admit i didnt even read past 30 pages before i put down the book and was like 'lol bye'. even the very first scene where they're in the hospital and augustus is ~inspired~ by hazel just struck me as completely unrealistic and dumb bc lbr who talks like that. no one talks poetry on the spot. and come on we've all had hazel-esque thoughts and dumb existential crises. i havent read it so i might be guilty of being biased or s/t but i literally hate it when authors create completely unrelatable characters/ characters with a completely naive view of the world (as u say hazel was) and expect u to fall in love w them. or attempt to manipulate u into crying like 'oh im writing about cancer so this is my gateway into making u cry' it just seems lazy and inconsiderate!!!!!!!!!
