One of the priorities this year for IdeaMan Studios is a shared storage setup (hopefully leading to an easier/better archival workflow).  We've spent the last few weeks investigating the options and we may have found our answer.

EditShare

We thought we were looking for a true SAN... I think we may have been wrong.  EditShare is more like a NAS that has some SAN-like features.  What does this mean?  A slight decrease in performance but the trade-off is (hopefully) much easier management and additional features that a SAN cannot provide.

The most impressive thing that we saw was the integration with Flow, EditShare's asset management tool.  Version 3 looks very mature and has one of the easiest interfaces I've seen from a full-featured DAM.
