Its come to my attention that I haven't addressed the matter properly of why I would like people to donate to this campaign. So I'd like to start again.

My name's Cailean Wilson. I'm a music student, musician, and sound designer.

I said I was a music student, and I am, but not right now. I've been forced to take a year out from studying. Multiple factors, mainly due to mental health problems have been the cause of this. Because I'm still a registered student, but I'm not actually attending classes this year, I'm ineligible for Student Financial Services, and so I have to rely on finding my own income. I can't apply for benefits because of this tie in with the university, because while I'm technically not studying, I am still a student, so I'm left without that lifeline.

I'm also unemployed. This is the first thing that people might think. Why can't I just get a job and fund a new PC that way. Believe me I've been trying. In the past two weeks I've had 8 job interviews and have sent out something in the order of 50 resumes. None of them have decided to hire me. Over the past year I've had 4 different jobs and each one has dropped me for some reason or another. Some of them hired too many people at the wrong time. One of them didn't train me properly and then decided to fire me rather than train me. Whatever the reasons, I've not been able to spend any considerable time in employment. Every time I find a job and think “I'm safe now” something happens that utterly ruins that, and I'm back to square one. The volume of jobs I've had, and the amount of time I've actually spent at them, has made me look unemployable in a lot of management's eyes. So my income has dropped to virtually nothing.

This, coupled with rent payments, bills, and paying of debts to two banks every month, leaves me quite literally without two pennies to rub together.

And then my PC died.

Some of you may know that in May, I released an album. It was rushed, but I'm still incredibly happy with it. I pushed that album out so I would be able to stablise myself financially. And it was very successful for a month. I good number of people downloaded it and it really helped. But that money had to run out sooner or later. Even back in May I was having difficulty finding work, and that has been a constant contributing factor to me.

I've been able to make some money, but not an awful lot, through commission work. I opened for commissioned music in April but the number of people interested in music on commission is really low compared to more traditional art. Other than that, I still have a back-log of commissions that need working on and finishing, and I had been slowly working on them up until the point my PC died.

And that's the problem. I work for a number of projects which require me to be able to work as a musician and sound designer. Sound design is something I've discovered I absolutely love working with, and I've been trying to build my portfolio so I can find some sort of employment later down the line in that field. But that's going to take some time.

What little money I could make from music and sound, I cannot continue to make without a working PC. Without a computer, the various software, and samples, I cannot continue to work. As much as it would be lovely if my family could help me, they can't. What income my parents make goes towards their own financial issues, and I cannot conscionably ask them for money.

So I've had to come to you. Every little helps, and even if it's just one dollar, or one pound, it really does help. I didn't plan for this to happen in the middle of the christmas season, I didn't plan on it happening at all, but it has. I cannot afford this, for matters which I'm hoping are much clearer now, and so I'm asking you for help.

The next meet will be our annual WinterWonderlandStuck event!

This is a cosplay meet, so please feel free to come along dressed as your favourite characters in the most gaudy of Christmas attire imaginable. If you don't want to cosplay that's also fine! Just come along and have a really lovely time with us!

We're meeting at VC, on Saturday, 20th December, at 12:30pm. If this is your first meet, VC (the Vriska Circuit as it's known) is our name for the flat plaza above the Princes Mall, next to the stairs into Waverley Station. Just look for the homestuck cosplay!

Please remember that while this is a cosplay meet, it is also in the middle of december. It is going to be cold, and it may even rain, so please remember to wrap up warm and be prepared for inclement weather!

Hey everyone, Mod K here!

First off, apologies. I'm really really sorry that the blog has been inactive over the past [INSERT TIME HERE], this was caused by a lack of foresight on my part, plus a relatively high level of burying-head-in-sand, and a sprinkle of running-from-responsibilities.

I'm back in the seat now, and there will be meets properly back up and running with ACTUAL timescales and such, letting you all know what our plans are and with lots of fun stuff planned for the festive period!

Due to aforementioned shirking of responsibilities, it'd only now (1 hour beforehand at the time of posting) that I've had the chance to make a post about a meet that's being held today (08/11/14), to celebrate dara's birthday! Come along, VC, 12:30pm, if you can! There are plans to go to the Museum today too!!

Once again I can only apologise for being a loser nerd and dropping the ball on this one. I can only hope that I can do better in the future.

just a quick post to say this is the last you'll hear from me, mod c, on this blog. i'm leaving my position as a moderator for the group, and handing it over to mod k, who i'm certain will be able to do a great job with you guys, i mean, he has done already!

i'll still be attending some future meets when i can and i will see you all around then, and at cons, and on the internet. it's been a fantastic two years we've had together, edinburghstuck and all its members have had a huge impact on my life. i've grown as a person and made new friends and seen them grow too - it was a brilliant opportunity and i am so glad i was a part of it for so long. but now i've got to grow even more - aiming to start a career in the police force soon - which will be a lot of work!

once again, thank you guys, edinburghstuck wouldn't be the thing it is today without you. i wouldn't be the same person i am today without all of you. i'm very grateful.
