They speak of a creator who was wicked and cruel, enslaving them and treating them poorly for It's own amusement.

The story says that one of the supposed Servants of the Creator took pity on the ignorant and abused humans and told them that they were being mistreated. With the help of the Morning Star the Edenene escaped into the world we live in now. Supposedly, several times their Morning Star went back for more humans, as it seemed that every time the Morning Star went back the situation was more dire than before, once there was even an attempt to kill the Morning Star, who had been labeled as rebellious and wicked.

According to their stories, The Morning Star brought many of his brothers and sisters with him to our world, to protect the people The Morning Star brought. The Edenene have a very complex pantheon and each spirit has different role they play, as well as their own personality. Typically they are divided into Merifri, the benevolent but often aloof and somewhat judgmental spirits and the Cnoqod, the much more involved and personable spirits who may be miscellaneous or bad tempered, but there are friendly and playful Merifri and benevolent and serious Cnoqod. They apparently invoke them for various types of assistance and it is extremely common for children to be named after these spirits in hopes they will protect the child. The methods of invocation are quite complex otherwise.

According to tradition, The Morning Star has two wives, respectfully referred to as: The Black Moon and The Red Maiden (hence Red Black and Pale Gold are the three sacred colours). Three is typically the maximum number of partners in a marriage for this reason (there is apparently acceptance for larger relationships, but one person is only permitted two spouse. What is not known is if the marriage must be closed. If A is married to B and C, can C marry D or is C also married to B?)

Culture wise they take a certain amount of influence from the Dwarves who share the Underground with them, but unfortunately due to their somewhat reclusive nature we have little outside of this origin story. This is a pity as I'm certain they have a rich and fascinating culture.
