Hi, that’s a great question. I had been considering not eating the ketchup and just saving the bottle as it was, like as a souvenir. I figured that with all the vinegar and preservatives inside, as long as I never opened it then it probably wouldn’t actually go bad or start rotting on my shelf or whatever. Sort of like how some people have souvenir Cokes from the 50′s that have never been opened. 

But. I like ketchup and I wanted to eat it. 

Plus someone I live with didn’t realize I was saving it and opened it without saying anything and I found it in the fridge later already used soooo... 

Anyway, I bought two of them and after we finished off the first bottle, I washed it out and painted the inside red with craft paint. (It’s actually kind of hard to paint slick plastic with a brush, but I squirted the paint inside and then rolled it around and that seemed to do the trick.) I was happy with the way it looked, so I went ahead and opened the second bottle too. When that was used up, I washed it out and instead of painting it, I filled it up with little red plastic gems, the kind you can get at craft stores for table-scatter decorations. This is what I ended up with: 

You can’t really tell from the picture, but the one with gems inside is super sparkly when light hits it just right. I like it better than the painted one because it’s prettier and has some weight to it, but the painted one is fun because it’s hollow and I threaded some red yarn through the cap and tied a knot in it, and if someone isn’t paying attention, you can squirt it at them and when the yarn comes flying out, at first glance it looks like you’re really squirting ketchup at them! Er, this only works once though. Because then they know the joke and if you do it again they just roll their eyes while the yarn lands gently on their sweater.
