If not for the wedding situation, would people dislike Richard so much? He's done other unpleasant things, but so have they all. I think he would otherwise just be "on the wrong side of things".

I can’t speak for anyone else, but I for one disliked Richard long before the wedding. For that matter, the wedding really didn’t change my opinion of him; his dislike of Anna was well established, of course he’d take any opportunity to fuck that up. The person who really drove that disaster -- and, more importantly, persistently disrespected the character and agency of his friend and supposed love -- was Abe. So if 3.04 really embittered me against anyone, it’s him.

There’s also the idiotic response of ‘As soon as they started streaming it, it’s not THEIR game anymore.’

I haven’t seen that one before. People actually say that? The HELL?!

Like oh my gods. Have any of these people watched a tv show ... ever? A movie? Read a book? What ... what the fuck ... what ... 

I’m just, I cannot wrap my head around that. It’s literally their show. They own it, they decide when and how to broadcast it, it’s theirs. Legally, even, because Legendary didn’t buy Critical Role, that’s still Matt’s intellectual property. 

Now there are things that changed from the private to public show format, and those are overwhelmingly for the better. I’d argue that things like Sam’s use of mind-control to NPC women, the “lol let’s go to a brothel” jokes, and Scanlan’s pursuit of Pike after she turned him down repeatedly ... those are things that fizzled out gradually on the show now that it wasn’t a game among friends but a live show broadcast to a large audience. Things like increased queer representation, more character development and romances, and consequences for morally ambiguous actions, those are examples of positive changes from the private game to publicly broadcast show format. Fans discuss representation openly with the players on twitter and send in questions to the Q&As, and get responses. The show champions charities and causes and encourages donations from fans who want to show their appreciation. 

I did! I liked the end, as it felt like a place he was actually needed, and they needed him. And Ethan Hawke’s Clint Eastwood voice. :)

I'm kind of sad Mary's such a ... beast. Her thoughts about how awful Anna is seem better turned inward. But oh shit that cliffhanger!

I was re-watching s2 these past couple days, and her mentions of Selah have to do with loyalty, not love. Just FYI.

Thanks for the info! Yeah, I was trying to remember how much he’s mentioned past s1, and ... I remember her pointing out to Hew that she’d betrayed her husband by jumping from the boat ... I remember her saying much the same to Abe, with the added lament that she’d done so even though she had no future with Abe ... and in s3, of course, he’s mentioned a few times re: the supposed divorce. But I can’t recall Anna speaking of him in a way that betrayed much sentiment for him as a person rather than just loyalty to him as her husband.
