Having an echoic memory is all fun and games until it's either :
1) 3am and you have the dumbest song stuck in your head
2) you're in the middle of an exam and have an nsfw asmr audio stuck in your head
me: huh it’s a really nice day might as well get into the mood My brain: FAR FROM THEIR LAND AS THEY MADE THEIR STAND me: ... sure this works
How I cope with my anxiety.
I have a echoic memory and social anxiety. "What's that?" You may think. Let me tell you how my echoic memory helps me with my social anxiety. First of all, with an echoic memory you can recall voices and sounds very easily. I'm very good with voices for example. So every time I feel stressed or notice that my emotions get the best of me, I recall voices of my favourite TV-characters (Chibs, Tig, Sam, Dean, Cass etc.) I can make them say almost everything and it is very calming to hear Chibs Telford calling you love and tell you that everything is alright as long as you are getting out of the situation alive.
my brain, dissociating mid-exam: the universe is but a massive billiards pool of atoms
me : cool, can you we concentrate and solve this equation now ?
my brain : nope. *starts playing music instead*

the thing about having a nearly-echoic memory is that i'll remember a song i heard in a movie 12 years ago right down to the microphone quality and that one annoying noise that was in the background at that one part, and i'll mention it to someone who i know has heard the song too because they were sitting next to me watching the movie, but they'll just be like "oh i don't remember that song at all"
Me, innocuously writing/editing:
My brain, everytime I come back past this line while editing:
OTL *siiigh* Rapunzel... Rapunzel, that's nowhere near your line. Though I suppose it counts as still not what he wants to hear. 🙄
