It may appear that I am totally enamored with the stunning sunsets that Tampa Bay, Florida, offers. They are most frequently seen in my posts of the last few years. But the fact is that there are days when the mind glowing, I mean, mind-blowing sunsets and dusks over Long Island are more than a camera can handle. This 180• panorama was shot from eight handheld photos taken with the iPhone 6S Plus in 2016. 

 I just had not had a chance to put it together until this August 2020 summer night in Florida. The iPhone 11 Pro Max which I have at present does a better job than the 6S Plus but that was a great camera of its time. 

So you can imagine how vivid the variation in colors was that the phone could not keep up with the changes between frames. I let the coarse colors, especially in the greens, stay in the image, because the sky is really what took full attention.

It was the early summer of 2012, the day before my 50th birthday. The tornadoes and droughts of total economic meltdown, brought on by the policies of Republican President George W. Bush which enriched the super-wealthy with one trillion dollars of tax cuts, had wreaked havoc on my life as on millions of ordinary individuals, families, and entire towns. The next few years were spent on surviving, recovering, and rebuilding. Even then it was a rocky road. By the time 2012 rolled in, after a labyrinthine journey of heart-sinking troughs, fleeting peaks, and unexpected drops into new valleys, life began to hint at a promising change ahead. I had to remind myself that life’s most exquisite blooms often come accompanied by the piercing thorns of reality. The key is to persistently tend to one’s garden of dreams, rooting it in unshakeable faith, nurturing it with the water of hope, showering it with the rain of love, fortifying it with the grains of gratitude, and ceaselessly illuminating it with the lights of confidence, and perseverance. No matter the adversities you face, remember, they are but temporary. You possess the strength to surmount them. Never let go of your dreams. Never relinquish your authentic self. Within you lies an indomitable spirit. You are capable of blooming despite the thorns. Are you ready to live the life you dream of?

Suffolk police officers deliver baby in vehicle in East Patchogue

Nicole Gonzalez gave birth to her baby girl early this morning, but not in the way she had expected. Brookhaven Town to acquire land Near Swan River Preserve in E. Patchogue

Brookhaven Town has taken another step toward the conservation of a piece of land next to Swan River Preserve in East Patchogue.

A Town Board resolution was approved Thursday to acquire a 4-acre property just east of the existing preserve, allocating the $715,000 sale price plus additional money for closing costs and property taxes. (more…)
