Obsessed with the "bdubs is actually straight" idea its so funny. Like everyone is busy congratulating Etho on transitioning and becoming comfortable with herself and someone makes a joke about how at least bdubs is bisexual you don't have to worry about him! or something. meanwhile Bdubs is in the corner sweating bullets desperately trying to figure out what to do with his bisexual pride pins. Etho gives him a medal for queerbaiting
âAre you really getting rid of this stuff?â Etho asks, resting her chin on his shoulder to peer down into the bundle. âYouâve had it for so long.â
âNow that Iâm officially straight,â Bdubs says, bravely holding back tears, âI donât deserve it.âÂ
Itâs not that Bdubs isnât happy about Ethoâs transitionâhe couldnât be happier, frankly, to see her so happyâbut it does put him in somewhat of an awkward position. The small collection of pink-purple-blue pins and buttons and flags (okay, only one flag) heâs accumulated over the last decade fits easily inside of one small bundle. Heâs just not sure what the heck to do with it.
âUh-huh. Maybe it should go to someone who hasnât been queerbaiting me for the last ten years. Itâs a shame, actually,â Etho says, and wraps her arms around his waist, breathing a laugh against his neck. âI donât get to call you a sissy anymore.â
Bdubs decides that afternoon to swing by Renâs. Thereâs a few bi people on the server, but heâs fairly sure Cleo and Gem both have their own collections of flagged-up merch, and after them, Renâs the person heâd trust to take care of this stuff the most. Maybe it doesnât suit him given his new circumstances (not that anything else would; Bdubs shudders at the thought of wearing anything with that heinous black-and-white straight pride flag), but it does still have sentimental value. Renâll look after it, heâs sure.
When he makes it over to the Archives of the Arcane, he finds Ren poring over a levitating tome, a big circle of magic nonsense floating in the air around him. It dissipates the second Bdubs shouts out, âhi Ren!â
âSir Bdubs,â Ren says, looking up from his book. âWhat can I do you for?â
Bdubs pulls the bundle out of his inventory and empties its contents over the table nearest to Renâs flying book. âI have an amazing, one-of-a-kind offer for you. A load of pride stuff. Vintage pins fromâfrom 2015.â Bdubs snorts at his own joke. âYou want âem?â
Ren picks up a pin and inspects it through his glasses. Then his eyes go wide and he drops it. âIs that the, erm, bisexual flag?â he asks, voice a little high and strained like heâs trying to be casual.
Bdubs nods, and sighs mournfully. âYeah. My old standard.â
âWhat makes you think Iâmâthat?â
Bdubs rolls his eyes. âAre you kidding me? You and Martyn were faâoh, I canât say that any more. You and Martyn were doing something back in Third Life. And Iâve heard those Creepr notifications on your comm.â
Reddening, Renâs hand flies to the communicator burning a hole in his robe pocket, like Bdubs can see the app through the fabric. âI donât know what youâre talking about,â Ren stammers. âAnd if I did have an app like that, I definitely wouldnât have notifications.â
âOkay!â Bdubs says, holding up his hands. âLook, you want this stuff or not?â
âErm.â Ren reaches out for it, then stops himself. âWhy are you giving it away, anyway?â
âItâs a whole thing,â Bdubs says, and sighs. âSince Etho came out, I figured she was the only guy I ever liked. So now sheâs a woman, I guess Iâm not bi anymore. Which sucks! âCause I got all this stuff. So I want it to go to a good home. You know I got my first pride pin almost a decade ago, andââ
âHold the phone,â Ren says, frowning. âYou and Etho are⌠dating?â
Bdubs blinks at him. And blinks again. âWhat kind of question is that? Weâve been together since, I donât knowâten years, Ren.â
âOh,â Ren says, frown deepening. Then, âI thought we werenât meant to date other hermits.â
âWhereâd you get that idea?â Bdubs says. âYou really didnât know? I know we keep it low-key, butââ
Ren cuts him off again. âSo youâre straight, now. You can be straight.â
â...Yes?â Bdubs puts his hands on his hips. âLook, do you want this stuff or not?â
âMy deepest apologies, Sir Bdubs, somethingâs just occurred to me,â Ren says, pulling his robes tightly around him and heading for the exit. âA matter of utmost importance that I need to discuss with Lady FalseSymmetry.â
Crap. âNo, no, thatâs not what I meant,â Bdubs says, trying to get between Ren and the door but getting buffeted by Renâs big hat for his trouble. âFirst me, now you? No way, man! I canât be de-bisexual-ising two people in one day.â
Ren slips past him easily and, grabbing the brim of his hat with both hands to pull it down and squeeze through the opening, darts through the door. âHold that thought, Sir Bdubs. Iâll be right back!â
Bdubs is left standing in the middle of the library with the bundle still in his hands, mouth gaping.
Thatâs it. I hate myself, he thinks. Iâve gotta be the worst ally of all time.

LOVE the strings/piano intro into the guitar itâs so gorgeous. and starting the album with a long section with no vocals is so fun for them. I like the lyricsânot my favorite ever but definitely strong, especially as an album opener. the vocal melodies are great; theyâre more complex than i was expecting. in a good way.

i mean needless to say im deeply enthralled by it. fascinatingly on tango's stream etho mentioned that he and bdubs were talking about it last season so it's cute that this is like a long term plan of theirs to work on it together. they are so. so.

anway whateverrrrr i don't even care. i love when they do projects together i just hope this doesn't fall victim to their curse where shared projects don't get finished because the season ends too soon :(
If you had to single out the worst most indicative of real love clip or interaction of ethubs which one would you pick?
There has to be a different answer for both Etho and Bdubs. But my personal one for Etho is that recent interaction after Bdubs had been gone for 2 months, and he suddenly comes back. Etho misses him so much, he is so giddy and giggly at everything Bdubs says or does. He makes something Etho has seen a million times, and he's like, fake gasping and giggling at everything he says ("you made basalt appear out of thin air! :0"). It's almost embarrassing to watch. At one point Bdubs is like, "do you know why this works?" and Etho stutters for a second like he's about to say yes before he says, "explain please" which is unexplainable in any other way except he's in love in my opinion. Why are you missing this man so much, you just want to hear him explain this random thing you already know? You just want to hear his voice. It even carries over to Tango's stream, where there were also good contenders as an answer for *both* of them. Generational Bdubs return he should go missing more often not actually
that's a strong pick. maybe a rogue choice but for me, the etho clip would be him talking to gem and then bdubs about bdubs's tower in WL. he's so completely fond when saying "that's bdubs" and then keeping in the clip where bdubs is talking about the nosebleed. like why keep that in
for the bdubs clip idk. maybe the stream where bdubs is being extremely careful talking to etho about the charity event. so many of bdubs's moments are in the things he doesn't say, like this random mindcrack clip when he was clearly dancing around saying what he was actually thinking and ended up taking 2 minutes to say "etho's a good guy" lol. in that post-charity event stream they spend the whole time very obviously NOT talking about 'what if etho was there' that the whole conversation kind of ends up being about it. like what is there to say when they can't say what they want to say?
