Part 2 (A masked self of the past) . . Circa. 2015/16 mostly. Age: 22-24 😋 This was post education phase. A dipping job market scene. Thanks to Dance I found a way to make income and do what I love. Honestly the latter has been the guide 🙃 . . I remember this phase was a real struggle. My body was loosing weight fast, my wallet wasn’t able to keep up with that, n I was struggling to rent a new space! . . A few of my friends at this point were absolutely condescending about my body, my choices and the way I dressed. . . I use to stress a lot about Dressing up at a point in my life- it was my shield in a world where u got objectified, harassed and ppl swept u up top to bottom with their eyeballs (as if u did not know😖) practically everyday! . What struck me was: Dressing up & looking a certain way was almost my way of rebelling a society bent on treating women as objects. As bodies to be scanned - it’s a deep patriarchal cancer that exists almost everywhere I have come to find. . . I dress differently now maybe, but the way I feel about myself and body today is still an ongoing process of healing. It doesn’t matter what we wear or share or speak- our power and confidence is what we truly need. Take space. Make space. . .
