Aw, thank you! I mean, I usually have pretty good self esteem, relatively speaking, but it’s just nice to have outside confirmation once in a while!

Yay Sam! This reminds me of something I try to remember to do with coworkers who really stand out.... email them kudos and CC their boss. That way they get the direct compliment, the boss gets a heads up their employee is awesome, and they know their boss just heard that. Everybody wins!

Yes! I’m actually in a position now where I can praise people I’m working with to their bosses and it has meaning, so I’ve been passing along praise where I can. It’s nice to be able to say to someone that I appreciate their work and have it get up the chain to their manager.

Aw, thank you. It wasn’t like I didn’t think very highly of myself (LOL) but it’s just nice to know that it’s real and visible to others.

Might I recommend the electric mattress cover? It reheats the ENTIRE bed and then you shut it off when you get into bed. Especially wonderful for sure backs

did they make pasta differently back then because I’ve seen do many recipes like that and wonder- how is there anything left besides slop?!

do you have to actually. you know, PLAY this game or can you just drive around?

Well, to unlock Manhattan as a playable space, we had to get through a few of the early levels.  Basically, the game is a rather jumbled recap of the Avengers movies. 

-Starts with the opening sequence of Age of Ultron, using movie audio

-Backtracks to the Avengers opening (evacuation of the SHIELD base), and from there, heads into Avengers. One interesting piece is that during Steve’s “rip a punching bag off the ceiling” sequence, the game actually flashes back to a mission with Bucky, a mini memory inserted into the Avengers. 

So, you’ve got to play the actual storyline for a little bit to get New York unlocked. And then, boom, sandbox mode.

In New York, there are:

-Races that can be done in vehicles, by flying, or on foot -Mini games (jump from the back of one turtle to the next in the pond at Central Park in a certain amount of time, find and smash all these particular mcguffins, blow up statues of Loki, etc.) -People to help (Fin Fang Foom needs ingredients for his Frogurt stand, Kamala’s being attacked by laser crocodiles, Phil needs someone to drive Lola across town, Old!Peggy wants to talk) -Characters to unlock (Defeat bad guys and help good guys and get the ability to run around as them) -Ongoing crimes (Coulson will notify you if something’s happening in the area, you can defeat a purse snatcher or stop a bank robber from fleeing the scene, but there’s no penalty for ignoring it) -A civilian population with stuff to say and cars to steal.  You can run them over and they pop right back up in your wake, yelling after your in typical New York fashion.

You can take any vehicle you can catch.  Bus?  Go for it.  Semi? Slow as dirt, you’ll regret it.  Police car? Sure.  Street sweeper? It’s ADORABLE!  There are no consequences for this.  You can steal a taxi and drive it into the river to watch it explode.  It’s fun!  You can unlock and ‘summon’ better vehicles (motorcycles, sports cars, golf carts) at various SHIELD points around the city.

Characters have different abilities.  Nat can turn invisible.  Tony and Thor can fly.  Clint has explosive arrows.  Thor can bring the lighting.  Hulk can rip up pieces of the pavement and fling them at things.  The costumes change for the films, so if you’re wearing Nat’s AoU outfit, her attacks are accompanied by her glowing batons, and let me tell you, is THAT satisfying.

Characters also have the ability to work together during fight sequences.  An arrow connects them when they’re close together and can use one another.  If I trigger it with Steve and Tony, Tony swings around and fires his repulsors at Steve’s shield, and Steve mows down everything in the area. Even with the computer controlling the other character, it feels like someone’s watching your back.

I’ve spent far too long just flying in circles around the city.  For the first time in a lego game, the flying is intuitive and easy to control.  Hold down a button and Tony revs his repulsors, and when you release it, he rockets across the skyline.  

Tony has various armors.  Wearing the wrong one?  Hit a button and you go into the HUD display, and you can cycle through the armor he’s unlocked.  Choose a different one than you’re wearing and he has his own little magical girl transformation sequence, complete with spinning wheels of gold and poses.
