This is an Eagle bulb fill fountain pen in Green Lustre Pearl celluloid c. 1935-1936. The pen features Eagle's 1935 patented "Visehold" clip design by Benjamin W. Hanle. The celluloid is called Green Lustre Pearl in the 1932 catalog on the Prestige model and is wrapped in an angle twist to form the base tube for the cap and barrel. The ink chamber has clear elements and the long breather tube can be seen inside, which extends the length of the chamber from the base of the feed. It's 5 1/16 inches long capped. The double cap band is actually a single band with a black paint ring, made to look like two bands, and is used on the Prestige model. The cap top and barrel end cap are flat beveled plastic pieces. All trim is gold plated. The large nib, featured on the Prestige model, is stamped EAGLE over 14 Kt over MADE IN U.S.A. centered with a stylized eagle clutching three arrows. There is no barrel stamping. Though there are no markings indicating this is a Prestige model, the pen appears to be a bulb fill version of the Prestige.

This is an Eagle Prestige fountain pen in brown brickwork celluloid c. 1939.  It's rebranded Heacock, with HEACOCK stamped on the nib where EAGLE usually would be and an "H" logo on the clip instead of the EAGLE stamping.  It's possible the pen was made for Heacock & Freer, a jeweler based in San Francisco, California.  The pen has four Japanese characters stamped in the barrel, perhaps a personalization.  This is the large slender size Prestige at about 5 3/16 inches long capped.  It comes with a 14 karat gold Number 2 size nib, this one being stamped HEACOCK over 14K over MADE IN over UNITED STATES over OF AMERICA over 2.  The pen has a hidden ink chamber unit that does not touch the inside of the barrel which has a small ink sac attached, like a bulb filler.  There are two grommeted holes in opposite sides of the barrel to allow airflow around the ink chamber to keep it from overheating, preventing leaking.  The pen fills by removing the black end cap and pressing the paddle, compressing the ink sac.      

This is an Eagle Prestige fountain pen in Burgundy Red and Black celluloid c. 1932.  It's 5 1/16 inches long capped. The cap top and barrel end are beveled. All trim is gold plated. The large nib is stamped EAGLE over Prestige over 14 K over MADE IN U.S.A. The base of the barrel is stamped EAGLE PRESTIGE MADE IN U.S.A. It came in Oversize, Medium and Short versions.  The Oversize Burgundy Red and Black sold for $8.00, the Medium and Short for $5.00.  Matching pencils were $3.50 and $3.00 based on size.      

This is an Eagle Prestige made from a rolled sheet of repeating black and grey marble and lizard skin celluloid strips in the long slender size, c. 1939. This 5 3/16 inch long pen has a replacement nib marked JEWEL over 14CT over SUPER. Several elaborate gold plated cap bands were used on these pens, including repeating arrows, a repeating angled T pattern, and a repeating teardrop with triangle cutout. It's a type of bulb filler with an internal ink chamber unit that does not touch the inside of the barrel by design. There are two grommeted holes in opposite sides of the barrel to allow airflow around the ink chamber to keep it from overheating, to prevent leaking. The paddle-like lever that squeezes the ink sac is located under the removable end cap. The design was an improvement on bulb fill fountain pens such as the 1920s Postal Reservoir Pen. Eagle submitted Benjamin W. Hanle's design on March 11, 1938 and patent 2,170,242 was awarded on August 22, 1939. The "Visehold" clip was also designed by Hanle, patent 2,022,416 awarded on November 26, 1935, having an arrow design that must have annoyed Parker. Advertisements are scarce and have only been found in 1939 and 1940. This is a throwback photo from 2010. This is an Eagle Prestige in golden brown striped celluloid in the largest size c. 1939. The filler design was an improvement on bulb fill fountain pens such as the Postal Reservoir Pen. Eagle submitted Benjamin W. Hanle's patent for the design on March 11, 1938 and patent 2,170,242 was awarded on August 22, 1939, which indicates that this version of the Prestige was probably introduced in the 1938 to 1939 timeframe and does appear in advertisements in 1939. Inside the translucent barrel is a clear cylindrical ink chamber attached at one end to the nib section and with a short rubber sac at the other. This unit is not flush with the barrel, allowing airflow around the ink chamber through two grommeted holes in opposite sides of the barrel. The pen fills by removing the barrel end cap revealing a paddle-like lever that squeezes the ink sac. These are very uncommon pens that came in three sizes, the largest pen has a Number 6 nib, a slimmer model has a Number 4, and the smallest a number 2. The nib is stamped EAGLE over 14K over MADE IN over UNITED STATES over OF AMERICA over 6. It’s about 5 3/16 inches long capped. They came in black, brown and black/grey web and marble paneled, golden brown stripe, green stripe, silver web, green brick, and olive marbled striped patterns. Similar gray and red celluloid is called Gray Lustre and Pearl flaked with Red in the 1932 catalog on the earlier version of the Prestige. The celluloid is wrapped in an angle twist to form the base tube for the cap and barrel. It's 4 7/8 inches long capped. The double cap band is actually a single band with a black paint ring, made to look like two bands. The cap top and barrel end cap are flat beveled plastic pieces. All trim is gold plated. The large nib is stamped EAGLE over 14 Kt over MADE IN U.S.A. centered with a stylized eagle clutching three arrows. The base of the barrel is stamped EAGLE PRESTIGE MADE IN U.S.A. There is no Prestige model in the 1937 catalog, though the nib appears on the top of the line Flash Fill pen, which dates this pen just before that catalog and before the more balance shaped Prestige that follows c. 1939.

The celluloid is wrapped in an angle twist to form the base tube for the cap and barrel. It's 4 7/8 inches long capped. The double cap band is actually a single band with a black paint ring, made to look like two bands. The cap top and barrel end cap are flat beveled plastic pieces. All trim is gold plated. The large nib is stamped EAGLE over 14 Kt over MADE IN U.S.A. centered with a stylized eagle clutching three arrows. The base of the barrel is stamped EAGLE PRESTIGE MADE IN U.S.A. There is no Prestige model in the 1937 catalog, though the nib appears on the top of the line Flash Fill pen, which dates this pen just before or after that catalog and before the more balance shaped Prestige that follows c. 1939.
