They just went to Eiselcross, and stayed in the inn and everything. Vess wouldn’t have died, as Lucien would have had no idea that anyone was on their trail because Jester wouldn’t have scryed on him. They reached the caverns, and traversed it, before reaching a door. They find a way to open it, and before it opens Vess tenses and just says ‘Lucien.’

Next thing they know, they see a purple teethling stood next to a black tabaxi and several others. A purple teethling who they haven’t seen in over/under (I don’t know how long it’s been) since they buried him in the North.

He just looks up and goes, ‘Well, if it isn’t Vess. Fancy seeing you here.’ (Or something I’m bad at characterisation)

And Matt ends the episode

I mean, they’re about to go meet their former friend who they haven’t seen for ages, and fucking killed a member of the Cerberus Assembly. And they see a load of bodies right outside where they’re meant to be?

I feel like this is a warning (either from Matt or from the Tomb Takers, take your pick) that they are absolutely in over their heads. They are probably outnumbered, outgunned, and no where near strong enough to fight them without taking casualties.

If their plan is to charge in and fight - which I’m almost certain it isn’t - they will die. If they talk and then fight, they will die. The only way they can come on top is trying to get on Lucien and the TT’s good graces. They can’t do what they did with the Dynasty or Avantika, cause they have no trump card in this situation. With the Bright Queen they had the Dodecahedron and with Avantika, Fjord’s connection to Uk’otoah (can’t spell in) saved them from what was likely death.

I’ve mentioned it before, but they usual method of throwing caution to the wind will. Not. Work. If they fail and anger the Tomb Takers they will all likely be defeated. Matt has mentioned on multiple occasions that teleportation in Eiselcross is screwy and considering they are hundreds of feet underground, they can not risk using a spell to get them out.
