Gonna keep rambling about the comic cuz I wanna but this is something I noticed that kinda piqued my interest a bit.

So robert carey did this cover for a reprint of issue one right and this without a doubt looks much different than how ben himself looks in the comic most notably the hair.(which I always prefer ben to have longer hair anyway.) But what piqued my interest is that this art would've been done after issue 1 and 2 were finished which means that robert would've already had a finalized look for Ben.

Cuz for reference this is how he looks in issue 1. So there would be no need for such a drastic change and at first I just dismissed it as just being a variant cover artstyle thing but then I looked at the panels Joe Casey posted for issue 3 and.

If you look closely Ben's hair has that longer look that is has in the variant cover.

So now I'm wondering was Ben's design not finalized before they did the first issue or did rob after doing the first 2 issues just decide that he preferred drawing Ben with longer hair.

Cuz if you look at this panel from issue 2 Ben does havethe short hair from issue 1.

Taking into account what duncan said about the designs not being finalized when they were doing the variant covers for issues 1 and 2 I'm beginning to believe that Ben wasn't finalized either.

Same with this fourarms, though it is possible that Robert simply decided that he wanted to start drawing them differently too.

But I do prefer these looks a bit more so I'm kinds hoping they'll look like this going forward.

Which is probably why any changes they make with the dynamite comic or any new installments don't bug me..cuz it's like if the prime continuity itself doesn't give a damn about cohesion and consistency then why should I?

Alien force famously retcons magic out of existence and back into existence in the span of 2 seasons.

The plumbers and Maxs backstory are whatever the franchise wants it to be.

Kevins backstory is yes.

Whatever the fuck osmosians and osmos 5 is.

Gwen is supposedly one of the most powerful beings in their dimension but can't hold back a blowtorch.

Gwen gives ben shit for not taking things seriously then also gives ben shit cor missing Julies game cuz he was taking the forever knights seriously.

We famously have 3 different ben10000s with the explanation of why their different being boiled down to the timeline going "umm nuh uh"

Ben10 having 3 separate continuities that all start off with the same core concept but took the idea in such different ways is precisely what the franchise needs.

We don't need them to keep doing the same thing over and over again.

Like ben10 should be allowed to spread it's wings beyond what the prior series established.

Like you not liking gwen being into aliens is not a criticism on it's implementation in the story, it's not the prime continuity so her being into different things is fine.

Them using slang like rage baiting and referencing freddy fazbear also isn't a bad thing they're kids who were born in 2016 of course they'd say and reference things like that were prevalent in their lifetimes.

The aliens looking more alien and the body horror being played up more also isn't a bad thing you're just used to the aliens looking like supeheroes.

Them not beating around the bush with Max's origins also isn't a bad thing considering we already know Max's origin.

You not liking the artstyle doesn't make the art bad.

Like not liking the direction of the book doesn't make it bad it's just not your preference and thats fine. And I wish more people understood that instead of framing their criticisms like fact.

I just realized that i think this is the first instance in the entire franchise where the aliens have the green omnitrix badge without also having green eyes it's a nice change up.

And I really like that it seems that all the reprint covers are just gonna be Ben and his aliens which will probably the only way we'll ever get colored full body designs of the aliens outside the comic.

Not really feeling the canonbolt one tho but that heatblast drawing fucksss!!!

Probably the last time I'm gonna talk about the comic until it releases(unless more shit drops)

But I truly need ben10 fans to understand that this is a new beginning, MOA intends for what they do in this comic to be what ben10 is going forward, the definitive version if you will. If we do get more ben10 media outside of the comic helmed by man of action it's gonna be based on this version of ben not ben prime.

The Ben10 fandom has a serious misinformation problem cuz if you watch the interview this is just straight up not true. Cuz kuro asked Joe if he plans for Ben to actually be called Ben10 in the comic and Joe said as of right now there are no plans and that he was never fond of Ben being called Ben10 in universe.

To take that and spin it into "Ben is gonna have a new name in the comic is just gonna create unnecessary discourse cuz now people who haven't even read the comic are shit talking it and noone is actually gonna watch the interview to actually confirm it.

That wasn't the case at all.

Yes absolute batman is a very good book but when it was first announced and we got a first look at Bats it faced alot of scrutiny from people hating how big he was to people outraging over how the bat symbol didn't look like a bat. And yes there were even people shitting on nick dragottas art and panels from the comic some complained about how the faces were drawn some complained about how bruces proportions were done and when they revealed that the Bat logo was an axe and they revealed the designs for his villains and how brutal this bruce was there was still a large number of fans who hated it and call it edgey hell the book has been going on for 2 almost 2 years atp and there are still people who for one reason or another still hate the book.

And like i said absolute batman is a very well written book and it doing well is a direct result of that(as well as it being batman) but even with all the people who hate it the reason there's a large number of people who love it is cuz of trust in the people behind it. Like i remember alot of people not liking the direction even though the first issue did so well.

What does this have to do with Dynamite Ben10 you may ask well there are people who specifically compare dynamite ben10 with absolute batman as a way to put down the book but like dynamite ben10 isn't facing anything that regular big 2 books haven't.

The difference being that there is a level of trust that Batman fans have in scott snyder that Ben10 fans seemingly don't have in Man of Action which on Scott snyders part i understand because he has written alot of good batman stories but as far as man of action goes its beginning to feel like because Ben10 was a collaborative effort with lots of creatives Ben10 fans think that man of action aren't at all important to ben10 being what it is which is very disheartening.

Cuz it's very rare that a franchise thats over 20 years old can return with the original creators at the helm and almost equally as rare that said creators have the same passion for the franchise 20 years later that they did when it was originally created and yet we have both with Dynamite Ben10 with them also promising to honor what came before and Ben10 fans can't even appreciate that because they can't accept change?

Like batman fans are ok with a dude who (while very influential to batman) is still a relative new comer to writing batman essentially creating his own universe and mythology for the caped crusader but Ben10 fans don't trust the dudes who created Ben10 and helped write the best iteration of the franchise to do something new? It's crazy to me.
