It is the biggest of the flatheads, reaching a maximum size of about 120 cm (4 feet). They’re endemic to the eastern coast of Australia in estuaries and bays, but can also swim up these estuaries into freshwater on occasion! They’re ambush predators, hiding in sand, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
