alright that one's on me but in my defense yall usually don't ask
we did, but only briefly because we had a lot to discuss in class. honestly, mostly it was just put into context with what we were already learning that week (physical collections care including acquisitions, management, store rooms, policy, and paperwork)
my professor's take was that while the louvre theft was much more dramatic, she thinks that the more common ways of museum theft are honestly much more sinister because it tends to be from the inside. she referenced possibly (she didn't give a name) this case at the british museum where a curator was selling off uncatalogued items that were a lower priority
she also said (this was the day after the heist happened) that she was pretty sure all the jewels would've already been taken apart and sold, which fair. i think this post would very much sum up the vibe that she had throughout this discussion
