Obviously she's a piece of shit but we're dealing with a person who's in the middle of a vortex clinging to impossibly rigid thinking to keep herself afloat. That's why some of her lies/deflections resort to childish selective hearing/memory/impossible interpretations.

And I truly wonder what Pearlanne was thinking, being in Edwardine's room. I think Gramma was truly horrific to her, just because of how Pearlanne turned out, what Alexandra implied, and Tabitha's full-blown thousand yard stare at the mention of the woman. So Pearlanne specifically going about hiding the cards in that way is... an interesting choice. Was that intentional rubbing salt into the wounds to keep the goal in focus? Because, I think, the way that the dad is not in the picture, but *outside* of Scarlet Hollow, thought fondly of Tabitha, lived at least to Tabitha's 20 makes me think that maybe the separation was for his own safety.

The straightforward answer is that without them she loses her 'sight' and is most vulnerable, but then, considering that her tetanus lake outfit was magicked (mystical save has her in her pajamas), I don't understand why she didn't gain her glasses back.
