This is gonna be a longgggg willmack summary but I just wanted to write it all down because it’s insane. So they start playing against each other when Mack was playing for Chicago steel and Will was playing for the national development program, apparently they never said a word to each other but they were still playing against each other. Then they go to college. Will gets drafted to the sharks in 2023 but he decides to wait and goes to BC obviously because his whole family went there basically lol. But Mack goes to BU. insane rivalry between these two colleges for hockey for years. They play against each other there. Will at the end of the season has more points than Mack did (71 💀) and Mack hated him apparently. Then in 2024, Mack gets drafted to the sharks and Will signs his entry level contract the same year Mack does even though he told Gabe and Ryan he was going to stay for another year so they could try to win more. Just leaves them to the wind honestly 😭. In the summer Will and Mack start talking more especially at the rookie camp. “He was all quiet at the start and then I, then he opened up reallll quick” so now they’re magically friends after years of a rivalry between them. Will shows him American pie and even comments American pie on Mack’s summer photo dump. Then Rookie season comes along, they’re together all the time, 24/7. Mack gets his first hat trick with assists all from Will, and then they play against each other at worlds again. “Hey Mack, sup Will, hope you’re having fun, have fun.” (😭😭 love that clip.) and then summer rolls around, they’re go to train with Nathan MacKinnon and Sidney Crosby (Canadians mind you. To this day I have no idea why or how patriotic American Will went. Only explanation is that Mack invited Will to come because like wtf is he doing there. It’s like that meme with the polar bear in Texas.) and then Will goes back to Boston, he’s hanging out with Ryan and Gabe again, Mack’s back at home with his family. Will makes a summer photo dump with a cheerful Morgan Wallen song. Few days later, Mack posts his summer photo dump with the most depressing Morgan Wallen song ever, dark til daylight “I’m strung out I’m a mess” “I’m with her you’re with him” could you be any more obvious that you’re jealous dude??? And then this season comes around, they’re still as inseparable as ever. Going to the carbone for dinner which takes weeks to get a reservation. then DECEMBER THIRTEENTH happens. Will gets checked with a CLEAN HIT. Mack goes absolutely insane seeing red and just goes insane punching Wotherspoon who hit Will, so much so that he makes him bleed. The day after the hit, They’re seen at a café together Mack holding all the bags. And the game after Will is hit, Mack scores and does the same knee celly thing that Will does (👀👀) then Will comes back, once again inseparable but on the bench they got some space between each other. Then the lovely Olympics happen. Everyone is speculating and saying Mack is going to be hooking up with girls because that’s just what happens at the Olympics but instead we get news Mack’s just been calling Will and Will looks tired asf in the interviews. No hookups only calling your boybestfriend how the Olympics are going. USA wins gold, Will waits hours to post anything about the game and when he does he posts the tribute about Johnny Gaudreau which is honestly really sweet. He didn’t like any posts about USA winning gold, and then Mack comes back from the Olympics and if you thought they were inseparable before. Lawrd. They’re now practically sitting on each other on the bench, never apart from each other. Orbiting on the ice, THE SMELLING SALTS. Flirting at practice breathing down Wills neck. Will calls Mack the leader of their team. They are so tethered to each other it makes me emotional. Like they’re so lucky to have each other. Anyways that’s the willmack lore of it all. Their story is insane.
