Duck 131 - Honey
Honey, a Blue Swedish duck was actually not one of my own, but one of my closest friend's. One crystal clear memory was when we were baby-sitting Honey (and her goose buddy, Chase). My sister, Janice and I were playing with them in the grass by the garden and I took the opportunity to take what is one of my all time favorite shots. Happy together, Janice just relaxing with Honey happily enjoying some loving strokes. It was so peaceful - enjoying the simple pleasures of life, the world was right.
It is moments like those, that I treasure the most. Moments that I could spend with love - with ducks and a sister who means so much to me. When Janice became chronically sick changed a lot of things for all of us as a family. A lot of bad, hard, horrible times that cause pain. But also, as the years have stretched on, God's grace has stitched up the emotional problems and brought us to a place of greater, and truer love. It hasn't been easy. But what I can say, is that God is still good, loving, faithful and generous. We are still a family.
God gave us ducks. He knew that I adored them, and also that Janice certainly needed them too. Those dozens of ducklings that hatched seven years ago as a big surprise birthday gift to Janice and a Mother's Day gift to me, were a huge blessing! God gave me ducks to bring and enjoy simple, special moments to bond with my sister(s) and I am forever grateful! Happy Birthday dear Janice! Thank you for not giving up on me, forgiving me, and loving me. Sitting with you and the ducks is something I will always treasure.
