Haven’t uploaded camera pics from Dark Side of the Con yet, but here’s a preview shot from my cell. Saturday night I just switched into cozy clothes and slept with my makeup on and hair up, since I didn’t want to do it again in the AM.
(Featuring one of @mandi-cakes‘s Vampire Hunter D shirts.)
As far as hotels go, the Parsippany Sheraton and it’s faux-castle looks are pretty suitable for a goth event!

Found some more pics from the Dark Side of the Con. Pretty sure this was after leaving the dance party, which is why my hair is collapsing. I had not secured it heavily enough to survive step-dancing to dance remixes of Flogging Molly! (My black-with-green-sparkles lipstick was my contribution to the general St. Patrick’s day theme.)

It feels weird not to be prepping like I normally would for the Dark Side of the Con. I haven’t even started pulling together a list of supplies, let alone tried to figure out what I need to buy, find, and repair to pack.
I’ll be going alone, which makes me a little paranoid even though I have never felt unsafe in past years, so I’m planning on keeping my outfits basic and sturdy, and not drinking or only having minimal, weak drinks. God forbid I need to defend myself, I don’t want a fancy outfit in my way or my reflexes slowed. I’ll also be volunteering, which I haven’t done there before, so obviously while I’m “on duty” I’ll need to be wearing practical gear and be sober.
Plus all the Covid-19 drama means I won’t feel entirely sure that the event will go forward until I get there. Personally, I’m low-risk, don’t have any high-risk folks in my household, and I’m not more worried about this than any other con crud during flu season, but who knows if the event’s local Health Department might feel differently between now and the end of the month.
