First fruit on our Flower of Kent apple tree at Beau Vista orchard. This was from scion wood from a tree at DSIR at Seaview, Wellington New Zealand. They were gifted scion wood by the British Department of Scientific and Industrial Research as part of the International Geophysical Year in 1957/8. This wood has a direct grafting line back to the original tree in Woolsthorpe Manor in Lincolnshire, England where Isaac Newton lived when not in London ( at the time there was plague in London and a lot of gentry when to the country to escape it).
