welcome the two new raddest sickest diggity-dawgs in town!

These two belong to their self-made group DOUBLE TROUBLE. They work as "freelance" mercenaries across the multiverse hunting down whoever needs a good pummeling. While their comical appearance might suggest otherwise they're extremely good at what they do. They've gained a fearsome reputation on their own by doing what they do best.

The both of them suffer from chronic insomnia.

Stripes has an addiction to chewing gum.

Their duo does have a third member, but she's not often on the field, and works more as the brains behind the operation.

All three of them live in the same house, which Checkers has (unfortunately) named the "Hype House." It's located in a secluded AU and almost always has the ominous background noise of 80's pop and rock radiating throughout the halls.

Stripes' baseball bat is painted to look like a rubber chicken.

Checkers cannot read.

Stripes often speaks in a monotone voice.

Depends on the case for each client.

For non-lethal hits where they'd track and subdue a target and bring them back to someone or a certain place they'd probably make around 13-24k per client based on the difficulty of the target.

For lethal hits where they'd track down and kill a client, with either instruction to dispose of the body or bring the dead body to their client they'd make around ~60-80K

Some are particularly willing to pay upwards of hundreds of thousands of dollars for high-level targets.

There are some restrictions. They'd never let their selves be tasked with something as difficult as taking down a certain political figurehead no matter the price.

That being said, there's limits to what law enforcement can do in the prying eyes of the outside world.

Checkers is an actual dude, but he does have a parasite in his eye.

He was raised in a lab, both as a test subject and a scientist alongside his dad who is not a good person and could more he attributed more to that of a crazy scientist.

While researching at the lab he was used as an experiment to study soul-fusion with another living being, a parasite was born and raised in the lab and Fresh was used as the patient to test it out.

The parasite formed quickly in his right eye. During this process it managed to grow into his nervous system and into parts of his brain and soul, making it extremely dangerous to remove the parasite, which would mean that he was at a severe risk of dying alongside it.

Despite this, he has tried to get it out for years now. Even going so far as to try stabbing his eye out, which didn’t end up working, and as a result he’s blind in his right eye.

The parasite does, however, intensify his powers. As it’s bonded to not only his brain but part of his soul.

There are a series of negative effects as a result of this, of course. Such as chronic insomnia, severe memory impairments, and a loss of awareness and appetite.

Checkers feeds the parasite through his own body by absorbing the soul energy of others to keep himself alive. The easiest way to do this is, of course, for him to kill people. Since it's difficult to extract someone's soul from their body without doing so.

Working as a mercenary allows him to do so under the guise of him doing whatever job he's asked for.

Checkers is having his own soul energy being feasted on so currently there's no reason for the parasite to seek other hosts but Checkers does what he can in order to make sure his soul isn't completely drained.
