Obsessed with the parallels of the twins in this scene. Adin looking intimidating like he always does, and Mazlyn attempting to intimidate but mostly remaining neutral while trying to talk down Arka.
Mazlyn hasn't had to be a threat to survive the same way his twin has. He grew up in the Gate, able to rely on his adopted parents. He had enough privilege in the lower city to be able to learn magic at home through reading and his adopted father, (a drow mage). He got all of his books and supplies from Sorcerous Sundries. His (half high elf) adopted mother taught him to be a rogue, so when he eventually began adventuring and traveling, he would know how to fight hand to hand.
On the other hand, his twin barely escaped Menzobarranzan with his life, living in the wilds until he was found by Taldrin (another oc of mine) and taken back to the Emerald Grove to learn his druid powers and have a place to live.
Pictures of Taldrin and his sister Elerra under the cut, the two who found and rescued Adin from the woods.
