Blackpool English Summer Ale by Draught House
Draught House is located in a Tudor-style building and might just be Austinās oldest brewpub (it started sometime in theĀ ā70s). Theyāve been off and on with brewing their own beer over the years but a recent expansion made sure that they will always have their own creations available as well as nearly a hundred other offerings. Blackpool is an English Summer Ale and actually does remind me of some beers I had in the UK, though with an American twist. This beer is bright and hoppy with an overall citrus hop flavor. The malt backbone is biscuity and bready, fitting the style well.Ā
Too bad I canāt drink yet! š
Episode 13 Side A wt Stephanie Meyer of San Tan Brewing
This episode here, Punklings -- Episode 13 of the locally celebrated and nationally admired Draught Punk beer + music podcast Ā -- is the definitive answer to the perennially begged question, āWhy do we even fucking bother?ā
And that is because this episode fucking kills it. Ā Kills it to death.
For our lucky number 13, we invited beer patriot Stephanie Meyer who serves as the Texas brand rep for San Tan Brewing out of Chandler Arizona; a brewery who has recently undertook the ambitious endeavor of satiating the thirsts of 26.5 million Texans with some of the countryās finest hot weather beers made right over there in the Sonoran Desert.
Chris and Eric, as is typical of their staunch āNo Bitchassednessā policy, hold down their end of the bargain with solid indie rarities and their coordinating adult refreshments. Ā As usual, we think its our best episode yet. Ā And lo! Ā There is a Side A and a Side B, remember?
So take a listen to the first half of Draught Punk Episode 13 and crack open a cold coconut water if you work at a place that sucks; or maybe a cold San Tan if you already have your H.R. emails filtered to spam.
As always, a reminder to SUBSCRIBE to Draught Punkās iTunes feed and our Spotify playlists. Ā Subscribing is easy. Ā And fun. Ā But also easy.
So, from the haunted dentist office recording studio atop the legendary Draught House in Austin, Texas, here is Draught Punk Episode 13 featuring Stephanie Meyer.
Cheers then.

Episode 10 wt Song, By Toad
Oh, please do forgive our tardiness with the release of Draught Punkās March episode -- a real fucking cracker jack, by the way -- as were busy burrowing in the post-coital nape of SXSW and couldnāt be bothered to get up for anything besides gallons of Lucozade and a few tablets of paracetamol.
And if you wondering why weāre talking all fuckinā peculiar, well its because we spent one great Sunday afternoon at the tail end of Austinās biggest cultural event in the studios above the esteemed Draught House with our pal, Matthew Young of Song, By Toad Blog & Records, speaking the royal lexicon with our new sexy British accents and getting really, really goosed.
Well, not Chris or Eric per se -- the accents, I mean -- just Matthew, who joined us all the merry way from Edinburgh, Scotland. Ā However, we ensure that we did drink like a band of ploughman poets, as a band of ploughman poets does.
So, if you enjoy strong language with a soft cadence, clever-witted double entendre as it relates to beer and pop songs, and Public Service Announcements on how to engage alien cultures, like the Scots, go ahead and give Episode 10 a spin during dinner time or yoga.
Maybe you can even subscribe to Draught Punkās iTunes feed and our Spotify playlist. Ā Ā
Or just bring us another energy drink. Ā Ā
Cheers!

Weāre on a bit of a streak at Draught Punk HQ: two consecutive episodes in two consecutive months. Ā Thatās just the kind of standard we set for ourselves. Ā
On this episode, weāve got the brewing insight of one Joe Mohrfeld of Pinthouse Pizza. Ā But even more interesting than his beer perspective, is his musical intuition, which is a bit more psychobilly-tenderhearted than one might expect. Ā
Your friendly hosts, Chris and Eric, set the tempo for this episode with their trademark emo-warbly-indie-softdickrock preferences. Ā We think its one of our stronger melodic performances, only to be outdone by our mega-orchestral beer picks. Ā God, we are so fucking good at this.
If you like emotional and philosophical drunken banter between professional and amateur brewers, lengthy discussions about the most benign indie artist on the planet, Odellās entry into the Texas market, and have somebody to cuddle with at work, go ahead and give Episode 9 a shot during your lunch break. Ā Or maybe even after you put your spouse and kids to bed and are ready to throw a few of our beer picks down the gullet. Ā Ā
As always, a reminder to SUBSCRIBE to Draught Punkās iTunes feed and our Spotify playlists. Ā Subscribing is easy. Ā And fun. Ā But also easy.
So, from the studios atop the legendary Draught House in Austin, Texas (who we thank verily for allowing us the use of their space), here is Draught Punk Episode 9 featuring Joe Mohrfeld.
Enjoy Punklings.
Cheers!
