Okay, don’t ever think I’ll be mad at these questions because I LOVE these kind of questions. It helps me put my thoughts together and it educates others on Mormonism, so it’s a win-win sitch.

We have LOADS of core beliefs. To list a few, here are some in regards to differences with other Christian churches:

The Holy Trinity — While many other Christian churches believe that the Holy Trinity (God, the Son, and the Holy Spirit) are of one being, we believe that they are separate beings. We believe they are completely separate entities. We believe that God is our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ is our Savior and elder Brother, and that the Holy Ghost (or Spirit, whatever you want to call it) is a guide, some people say it’s that little voice that tells us right from wrong.

The Book of Mormon — We believe that the Book of Mormon, which was translated by Joseph Smith, is another Testament of Christ. So, we do believe in the Old Testament and the New Testament (the whole Bible) BUT we also believe that the Book of Mormon is the word of God too. It is described as the cornerstone of our religion, and is even where our nickname has come from “the Mormons”. Just like the Bible, it is written by many prophets of old. However, it is from the Americas and it is about the Saints there before Christ and after his resurrection, when he actually came to them to preach the gospel.

Modern Revelations — Many churches don’t believe the Book of Mormon because they don’t believe that there is modern revelation, AKA that God still speaks to us in a different form than the Bible. However, we not only believe in the Book of Mormon but we also believe in modern Prophets who speak the word of God and counsel us. For example, twice a year we have a General Conference (one in April, one in October, WHICH IS GOIN ON RN) where we listen, watch or read the words of our Prophets and Revelators through different media outlets or in real life at our Conference Center in Salt Lake City(WHICH I GOT TO DO TODAY, IT WAS SO COOL). This is actually happening this weekend, which is why I’ve sort of been liveblogging parts of it. There are two more tomorrow(Sunday). I can think of TONS of other different core values like baptisms, alcohol/drugs usage(AKA the Word of Wisdom), eternal life(which is a REALLY COOL THING, but I only had so much time on the computer tonight. I can answer that later, if you’d like) etc. But I think these are the very basics. I hope they actually made sense, ask me to clarify if you need.
