#dragonlings

Some sleepy probably-woken-up-too-early morning-time dragonlings, because I wanted to. Who/what made them get up? Who knows. Whatever it is, Laxus got dragged in to. Mostly, I just got the idea for this while working on this other series of drawings, and it turned more chaotic than my idea, but I’m okay with this. (I just wanted to draw my babies.)

Random notes/headcanons that I’m going to leave here:

1.) Arya leaves Du Weldenvarden in the middle of the night after a week straight of her mother’s advisors trying to give her the crown. She puts Firnen in a sling, decides to do whats best for her race- and peaces the fuck out. 

2.) Murtagh keeps finding weird things all over Alagaesia and sending them to Nasuada. Some of them are nice, some of them are just “I have no idea what the problem is with this thing and you are the ruling power”

2a.) Murtagh keeps getting dragged into human disputes on his wanderings, leaving him frustrated and often the ‘reluctant’ voice of reason. It takes him forty-five days before he goes storming back to IIleria to complain to Nasuada and her various underlings. 

3.) Eragon, by this point, is absolutely exhausted, in over his head and ready to go to sleep for a week. Saphira is one hour away from kidnapping him from Nasuada. Murtagh takes one look at Eragon and says- I’ll take over. Murtagh then begins to manage the shit out of the magicians and starts beating the nobles into submission and replacing them as needed. He also nips the Teirm thing in the bud. He knows all the secrets. 

4.) Eragon goes to visit Roran in Palancar Valley and is like- These are nice mountains. This is an area everyone is scared to death of and is close to Vroenguard, I’ll just pop over and get some eggs while I am here. 

5.) Arya contacts Eragon and asks if she can hide with him. Eragon asks if she wants to help him and Roran plan a castle and if she could please bring some of that nice liquor because Eragon still wants to get drunk. 

6.) Murtagh and Thorn realize its been several months and go to find Eragon. They find him in a tent in the mountains with Arya and a baby dragon. Murtagh is like “Castle????” Eragon nods and says “Castle” Murtagh also asks if Eragon or Arya have a plan for how the Dragon Riders are going to be watching over the governments. They have no idea. 

7.) Murtagh shrugs, agrees to the castle idea and no one but Roran and Orik knows where they are for most of a year. When the elves find them, Murtagh deals with them. When some humans find them, Arya deals with them and Eragon deals with the Urgals and the dwarves. 

8.) The next several years are spent with them making dumb ass decisions and Roran and Orik pulling them out of trouble. The three of them collectively insult every race and monarchy, cause problems and generally fail at their job until they work out a system of trial and error.  One of their eventual goals is to keep Roran and Nasuada and Orrin from declaring war on each other. 

9.) Throughout all of this- Murtagh is courting Nasuada, Arya is playing hide and seek with the elves and Eragon is trying his best but generally with Roran trying to figure out how to build two castles and how to farm the valley to the best effect. Ismira learns to walk with mini dragons toddling after her. 

10.) Murtagh still travels, but with a dragon egg tucked into a pocket, looking for new riders. (This is after they include Urgals and Dwarves in the Dragon riders) if he is not allowed in or welcomed, the people do not get a chance with the egg. It takes the elves over a decade to understand why Murtagh keeps being sent as a diplomatic envoy. 

11.) Eragon starts a small school for people who want to learn different languages or who just need to be able to read and write. He also starts a correspondence with Jeod and Trianna about standardizing human magician apprenticeships. Eragon consults with the Urgals, Dwarves and Elves about how they teach their young mages. Galbatorix insured most human magicians have little to no common knowledge, only what was hidden and passed down. Eragon also starts teaching human magicians the ancient language and the grammar that goes along with it, because otherwise there might be problems.
