Live blogging watching the movie for a series I watched as a kid. But I'll be kind and keep it behind a read more. Dragonkeeper here I come! Tea and dinner and comfy on the couch.
ping is far too happy. I guess it makes sense for a kids movie. She's such a depressed little girl in the books. But she is an abused slave, whereas here she's got an old adoptive mother.
She's already got a different relationship with the dragons since she doesn't clean out their "stable". The whole setup feels a lot more involved. But I guess Hua Hua falling in is good enough reason to get her to the dragons!
I think I forgot the specific 'called' aspect of Ping's journey, or it's been added for the movie. In any case
noooooooo the poor dead dragon it's horrific. Literally chopping her up for parts. It's so graphic in the book.
ah yes I think I do remember the whole dragonkeeper thing. The left handed thing. Not just a job title like it is in the current time

I actually love their lil walk through the forest together. That's like all of the book. Walking and chatting and qi training

I actually really loved that. It was a much lighter tone than the book, which is understandable for a kids animated movie, but a darling little adaptation. I think my comments waylaid from comparison to the book because I was enjoying it too much lol. I loved Ping, and Hua Hua, and Danzi. All of the secondary characters were one note, but that's like. Whatever. My little dragonkeeper was funny and strong and a menace, like she should be. Not a slave any longer! And Kai was too cute, for the three seconds I had him. Off to reread the books now.
