Aaaand that’s a win. After several 9/10s in previous rounds, we finally locked down a 10/10 for a Challenge Win!!

Hilariously, we won with Subterrors without ever having access to their signature trap card, Subterror Final Battle. Just goes to show how solid an archetype they can be.

Draft Challenge 3–Round 9 Deck Build

No changes to make this round: none of the new cards were impactful, and didn’t see any worthwhile changes to make from the existing card pool, either. 🤷‍♂️ Here’s to fairer weather in R9.

Draft Challenge 3–Round 9 Pulls

Easily the most disappointing pulls of the draft: not one new or useful thing this go ‘round. Still don’t have that Final Battle we’re fishing for, but despite that, I kinda feel like we already have the tools we need.

Draft Challenge 3–Round 8 Deck Build

We went 7/10 last round, and each of those losses was due to an unbelievable brick with 3-4 Subterrors in hand. Not the most likely scenario, especially that many times in a row, but I am opting for an additional Des Lacooda in place of our second Nemesis Warrior, as he doesn’t really do too much in practice. Hopefully, this will help curb this problem a little bit.

Draft Challenge 3–Round 8 Pulls

Not the most exciting busts, but we’re mostly just looking for Final Battle at this point. Still got some generally nice pulls, though.

Draft Challenge 3–Round 7 Deck Build

Simple changes again: Ultramafus in for Stalagmo, and Liberty at Last! in for Burrowing. Straight improvements, really, and not much more to add. Nearly put in Cave Clash, but honestly thought it might be more of an impediment than any significant benefit. We came so close yet again last round: hopefully, we can clinch it this go ‘round. We are so close.

Draft Challenge 3–Round 7 Pulls

Odd pulls this round, but good. Ultra magus is a nice addition, and Liberty at Last! is appreciated, too. Not sure how I feel about Cave Clash yet, but the option is always useful, if nothing else.

Draft Challenge 3–Round 6 Deck Build

Just a few simple tweaks, based on some play experience. Didn’t realize that Wandering Mummy would cause in-hand Subterrors to miss timing if its ability went off, so they’ve been dropped for Cannons. Influence Dragon existed just to go into Black Rose, but that play doesn’t really mean much in this deck, so it’s been cut for an extra self-flipping monster. Decided on Des Lacooda, as it can force opponents to choose between it and a low-DEF Subterror. Let’s go for R6!!
