Hux, always. Kylo falls asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow in Hux’ quarters, in his own quarters he tends to sit up meditating.

In private they tend to sit together so they’re touching (feet in laps, arms over shoulders) but in bed Kylo is something of an octopus

Droids. Hux will occasionally need to clean up scattered clothing but not too often, Kylo learned his lesson after somethings went into the trash chute instead of the laundry.

mows the lawn

There are no lawns on a star destroyer and if they ever got a home on a planet Hux would insist on native ground cover rather than a high maintenance lawn.

is better at budgeting

Hux, Kylo doesn’t know what a budget is and refuses to learn.

kylux - undercover was inspired by a Twitter conversation. Kylo is going to Canto Bight undercover as a spoiled prince, and Hux worms his way into the mission as his bodyguard. There’s some humor and then there’s some romance. Here’s a snippet:

When the last of the officers has filed out and the hatch has shut behind them, Ren finally speaks. “Supreme Leader did not mention that you would be part of this mission, General.”

Armitage turns to face him, steeling his face into what he hopes is a mask as effective as Ren’s own. “Given the expense involved, High Command would like to have someone on the mission watching the credits.” Armitage is part of High Command, and Armitage would like to watch the credits, so this is technically accurate.

For the Chewbacca story, I basically wanted to explore a lot of the big Star Wars events from Chewie’s perspective. The plan is for it to be nonlinear but told in an order that builds to an understanding of Chewie.

Stensland can feel the heat of the overhead lights on his skin, they make him squint as he looks out on the gathered crowd.

Okay, maybe not a crowd as such, but a few of the regular bar patrons are there, and Clyde is looking at him, a hint of a smile on his lips. He knows he shouldn’t be nervous, he has been practising after all, but his fingers still clench tight on the neck of the guitar.

It’s open mic night at Duct Tape, or at least it will be in three hours when the evening crowd arrives, but Stensland isn’t going to wait for that. That would be just too much. He looks around the gathered patrons and shuffles the mic closer to the stool where he sits, clearing his throat.

“H-hello, um, my name is Stensland, but I think most of you know me as ‘Clyde’s weird Irish boyfriend’, which, um, it’s not exactly wrong.” Stensland huffs in a breath, trying to keep his nerves at bay. “Anyway, this is probably going to be awkward and cheesy for everyone involved, so fuck it.” He closes his eyes and starts to strum, hoping he can remember the words.

“Give me more lovin' than I've ever had.Make it all better when I'm feelin' sad.Tell me that I'm special even when I know I'm not.Make me feel good when I hurt so bad.”

The bar patrons start to clap in time and Stensland can feel his confidence growing. He chances a glace towards Clyde and almost fumbles on the strings at the expression of wonderment on his face. He can’t help but smile as he reaches the chorus.

“You make it easy,It's easy as one, two, one, two, three, four.There's only one thing, two do, three words four you.I love you.”

Stensland meets Clyde’s eyes and smiles, not looking away for the rest of the song, barely comprehending the applause as the last notes die away. Stensland stands and Clyde strides to meet him, hauling him in for a kiss.

When they finally part, breathless, Clyde casts an eye over the bar patrons and motions towards the door. “Alright folks, open mic will start at 8, ‘til then, I’m closing the bar, out you go.”

There are a few chuckles and rolled eyes, but one by one, people file out of the bar, leaving Stensland and Clyde to themselves.

I’ve actually not yet watched ANY movie adaptation of Wuthering Heights, would you believe it?

I actually had the 2011 version in mind to watch, where James Howsonplays Heathcliff, not sure if that’s the one you were recommending? Because I like that they for once cast an actor who actually has dark skin. Plus I like The Enemy by Mumford and Sons which was apparently used in the soundtrack?

As to the novel, I’m personally a big fan of second gen Cathy x Hareton!

It’s only a questionable ship since they’re cousins, but hey it’s canon and a little light inbreeding never seemed to bother ye olde English countryside romances so it’s fine, it’s fine…

My fave side characters are the dynamic gossip duo of Nelly and Lockwood, and grouchy old Joseph.

I love how everyone is so highly strung in the book. They’re all so trapped and overly emotional and everyone has their own bad coping mechanism. It’s all very gothic novel drama but also very… realistic feeling of domestic despair. Sure they’re horrible people but I feel for them, ya know?

They all need a nice good holiday on the seaside and at least half of their attitude issues would be sorted out.

Now, crackships! I’m going with the ones I’ve never seen people talk about and which I’m partial to, but honestly any Wuthering Heights crackship is fantastic.

21. What aspect of your writing are you most proud of?

–I’m like, the worst person ever at saying I’m proud of anything, but I guess I’d have to say that I try to write people with realistic flaws, people that fuck stuff up, people that struggle with being human, and I think I capture that pretty well?

Despite almost a decades age gap the Hux brothers have always been really close, a fact that would surprise anyone who knew that they’d had no physical contact in the last twenty years. They’d shared a home for their entire lives- Armitage on the ground floor and Techie in the attic- but after one incident too many Armitage had asked that Techie never touch him again.

In a way it made sense. From a young age Techie had experienced visions of when people were going to suffer; and their father had been a sadistic bastard. By the age of 16 Armitage had realised the beatings were easier to endure without an advance warning. Techie rarely saw enough to give a clear date or time so his brother had found himself living in fear of the next fractured rib.

As the son of a mobster that was no way to live.

Given the nature of their father’s work Techie soon found himself withdrawing from the world. Everyone who came into their home was doomed in one way or another.

He couldn’t save everyone. Besides, not everyone deserved to be saved.

The last time his father raised a hand to him Techie saw what was going to happen. He kept out of his brother’s way until the deed was done.

Following Brendol’s death the family business became increasingly legitimate, or at least more plausibly deniable. The brothers had always been talented engineers. If people chose to use their products for less than legal purposes, well, that’s just because they were the best.

Still, their visitors were still rarely all that savoury. Techie did his best to avoid them.

It was on a rare visit to an out of town convention that it happened. Usually Armitage went to these things alone, but one potential new client- the muscular but intelligent son of a notorious smuggler- wanted to meet them both in person. Much to Techie’s horror within an hour the conversation had turned into mutual flirting between his brother and the client. He was left to wander the convention alone.

Except, of course, he couldn’t.

So many people, such dense crowds. How long had it been since he’d last had a vision? How could he possibly face the risk of seeing so much suffering?

Feeling overwhelmed Techie ducked into a service stairwell, hoping to stave off a panic attack. Instead he ran straight into a sullen young man in ill fitting overalls. Sullen but gorgeous, despite the huge glasses. Techie was so taken with him that he didn’t even realise he’d been knocked off his feet until the man reached out to steady him.

Perhaps it was the long absence of his visions, or maybe it was the sheer brutality of the vision, but Techie woke in an ambulance to the sight of his brother’s worried but irritated face. The paramedic tried to calm him but chattering about the handsome stranger who had carried Techie to a first aid point after his ‘seizure’, but Armitage refused to acknowledge the tale.

That wasn’t surprising given what Techie had seen.

11. What were your favourite books as a child?

I was a massively delayed reader as a child. It was hell. Because I could read, but I couldn’t use phonics. So my relationship with books was always a bit adversarial. I read the Anastasia Krupnik series, Pratchett’s Bromeliad Trilogy and Goosebumps but pretty much alongside things like The Vampire Chronicles and Dragonriders of Pern. I’m still not great with children’s stories, I get told off a lot when it’s my turn to read to the kid.

18. Would any characters from one of your works go well with your others?

JakJak is in all my fics. Even if he isn’t specifically mentioned he’s there. He’s in everyone else’s fics too. He’s even in your house right now, raiding the fridge. There’s nothing you can do to stop him.
