Jay wakes up in a bed with Tim next to him, arm around him loosely, breath on his neck.
He knows it's not a hotel. On the ceiling there are glow in the dark stars, in the corner of his eye a keyboard.
It's Tim's room in this new house they had for god knows what reason because having a house, sharing a bed out of want rather than need felt soâŚnormal.
Sometimes he woke up in Alex's bed instead, head on his chest, Alex holding him near until he had to comfort the other from a dream neither of them knew was good or bad. But more often than not Tim would narrow his eyes at Alex and you could practically hear a growl or bark despite the fact Tim would say nothing and Alex would back off, heading to his room alone.
It had been one of those nights. And now he was waking up. But it was still dark outside. The streetlamp just outside illuminated the room just enough to see the figure above him, standing closer to his legs than head.
It's hands were raised, shaking from the shifting glint of the knife in them. Jay tensed immediately, pushing up on one elbow. Tim gave a soft grumble but didn't wake up and Jay didn't care if he did right now.
âAlex?â
His eyes were hollow, like they had been..like they kept being. But Jay said his name and he blinked and his friend was back, dropping the knife and ignoring how it clattered on the ground and shaking some. âI'm sorry- I'msorryi'msorryi'msorry-â it was whispered, frantic, tears building up.
He didn't even have his glasses on.
Jay carefully got out of the loose hold Tim had on him and stepped around the knife. âHey, hey it's ok, it was just a dream. Sleep walking, you're fine, Alex.â
Alex sunk to curl up against the wall, gripping his hair and staring at the ground. He was a shaking leaf, not even due to the t shirt and shorts he was wearing. Jay chose to ignore the jacket he was wearing, the same one from when he- Tim had demanded he throw it out, Jay had said Tim should throw out his mask first and that was the end of that fight.
âIt's ok, Al, it's over. C'mon. Why don't I take you bed?â
Alex didn't seem any more ok at the comfort but he nodded to the request and let Jay help him up.
Jay would wake up in Tim's bed, most often than not. But he always seemed to end up in Alex's.

You canât touch him unless his blood is coating your hands.
Maybe itâs because your unholy hands could never touch something so divine unless bathed in its blood. Like red wine cleansing the bodyâs sins. Youâve heard wine is good for that. Some God-follower interpreted it and some doctor agreed with it.
Maybe itâs because all you know how to do is hurt. Your touch is poison and it drags him down, down, down. Until thereâs nothing left of that burning star but a husk.
You drag him down and you canât even catch him unless heâs bleeding. Unless youâre holding his body together with your bare hands. That is when your skin can grace his vessel - his body. That is when you are allowed to touch this divine thing.
Itâs not a reverent touch. Itâs terrifying. Itâs shaking and aching and wanting. Always wanting.
Once upon a time, an old entity told you that you never hungered because you were so damn empty inside. If that Famine could see you now. See how damn empty you are now. Not because you donât hunger, but because all you do is hunger.
day six of @widojestweek can you believe!!! find it here and read a lil snippet!
Sometimes it strikes Yasha oddly how no one seems to know Caleb is in love, or at the very least, they do know, but are doing a very good job of pretending not to. (Sheâs not sure why they would, but sheâs also witnessed much weirder. She distantly wonders if everyone is really good at pretending.)
K I've never written for beetlejuice but I just⌠need more bastard in my life okay?
~~~~Â
You had been with the Bugman for about a month, he would occasionally have to leave when called but you didn't mind, he had a life in the afterlife just like you had your own strange life outside of hanging out with Beej
Well you didn't mind until he came back one day looking worse than usual⌠and not in the ghostly way⌠more like in the "I just had the shittiest day in existence" wayÂ
"Being dead is no excuse for you to forget to look after yourself!" You lectured the ghost with the most who rolled his eyes one was hanging out of his eye socket due to a⌠worm? He refused to elaborate on thatÂ
"To be fair I was terrible at taking care of myself when I was alive" beetlejuice said as he popped his eye back into its socket as if it didn't bother him even though it made you flinch, you weren't used to him being⌠deadÂ
"THAT'S EVEN WORSE" you exclaimed folding your arms over your chest huffing as you tapped your foot.Â
"Um babes I think ya don't understand, you're talkin' to a dead guy!" He scoffed in response annoyed that you were acting like you were worriedâŚ. Even if it did stroke his ego you were being annoying.
Especially when you were trying to patch up the ghost which is what started the whole argument since he was FINE.Â
"You can't just come home and expect me not to freak the fuck out when you look like you are dying AGAIN" you hissed back tapping your foot as your face scrunched up angrily.Â
"As if anyone could hurt ME. Babes you're with the ghost with the most!" He crowed disappearing and reappearing behind you in response to your upset trying to ease you in his own special way as he took off his headÂ
"See? Just fine Babes" he teased as you went to put away the first aid kit with the demon floating behind you letting him brag about how he was essentially invincibleÂ
"Just⌠take care of yourself Beej⌠I care about you" you said as soft as butterfly wings making him stop in the middle of his boasting.
He coughed, his blush barely visible as he stopped midairÂ
"Yeah⌠sure things babes I'll be as careful as can be hot stuff!" he calledÂ
You might've not been used to his seeming invincibility but he was definitely not used to your kindness and having someone care so much about him.
It was kinda nice if he was being honest with himself
day twenty! not really a new âverse, just a look at a Heronica meeting and how it might go. I think she would challenge him to almost no end.
~*~
Harry is about five sheets to the wind and so not looking forward to tomorrow morningâs hangover when he looks across the bar and sees⌠her.
In high waisted dress trousers that look like theyâve been painted on and a backless top thatâs heavy with sequins where it drapes across her front, sheâs dressed to be seen so Harry doesnât think sheâll mind him taking an extra look. Thereâs a crowd around her, men and women alike who are flocking her way like they want just a hint of her light to shine on them.
âIâll be⌠bye,â Harry tells Niall, leaving his group of fellow grads behind as he joins the throng half-circling her. He has no chance of catching her interest, knows that half of the people around him are more attractive, better dressed or maybe even both, but he canât take his eyes away. The others in the circle are all feigning disinterest, dancing with each other or alone, but Harry takes the risk and steps just a hint closer, breaking through the wall formed and catching her eye.
âWanna dance?â he asks, pitching his voice to be heard over the music and thumping bass line.
âAlready am!â
âWith me?â
She looks him up and down, focusing on his scuffed boots for a second too long. Harryâs sure sheâs about to blow him off- she might not even say another word to do so- but then she smiles and nods.
âWhatâs your name?â Harry asks, lifting a hand and placing it gently at her waist when she meets him halfway.
âVeronica.â
She doesnât ask his and the sexy smirk on her lips tells Harry she did it on purpose. Sheâs playful, teasing in a beautiful way that makes Harry want to try harder and he doesnât rise to the bait. He dances with her instead, forcibly controlling his two left feet and keeping his other hand free and clear of her body so she doesnât feel caged in. He doesnât think sheâs the type to appreciate that.
âYouâre a terrible dancer,â she says but the insult is softened when she moves closer so theyâre chest-to-chest, the sequins of her top rough against the bare of his skin where his shirtâs unbuttoned and hanging open.
âYou donât seem to mind.â He lets his hand move from her waist to the middle of her back, fingers playing with the thin chains that are the only things keeping her top from dropping off. Her skin is warm, soft and intoxicating. Harry could touch her for hours. âYou want a drink?â
She agrees and links their fingers together as Harry leads them to the bar, carefully avoiding the corner his mates are holding. He doesnât trust them to keep their chill, is barely able to keep his own, and he urges her forward so sheâs between him and the bar. âOrder me something you like,â he tells her, lips gentle on the shell of her ear as he runs his hand down her spine.
She pays before he can- where sheâs pulled money from, he doesnât know- and he tucks his fingers into her back pocket and uses the hook to tug her back. âIâll buy breakfast,â he tries, snorting out a laugh when she turns back to him with a smile. âI will,â he insists, âif you stay with me until then.â
âLetâs try dancing again,â she says, handing Harry a mojito he sips at cautiously. The mint tickles his sinuses and the rum soaks his tongue.
âIâm not very good apparently.â
âYouâre fun, not talented,â she agrees, drinking deeply from her own glass. âAnd I never let a guy buy the first drink.â
âWhat about the second?â
She grins around her straw. âMaybe a mimosa over brunch,â she suggests.
âDo you want to know my name first?â he asks, equally playful as he takes a step back and leads her towards the dancefloor again.
She shakes her head. âIf I leave with you, you can tell me then.â
Intoxicated, entranced and overall obsessed with the weird, beautiful creature in his arms, Harry laughs. âDeal.â
âwhat are you doing here?â a mans voice snapped. You jumped and turned around- flushing with shame as the director of the sucrocorps company stared at you. Gadreel turned as well- mouth open in shock.
âwell?â the man snapped- and you felt your throat close as he took a step forward. A plan began to formulate- and you decided to take a page from Deanâs book⌠how bad could it really be?
âwe--uh⌠we were looking for a good place to makeout.â you choked out. âs-some place private- ya know?â you said weakly- and Gadreel glanced over to you slightly before looking back at the director. The director took a step forward and your hands slipped up to your belt unnoticed. He was within punching range.
âwell. You two lovebirds are going to have to go somewhere else.â he said- reaching out to grab you. Your pants dropped and you threw your hands up- eyes wide.
âPUDDING!â You pratically screeched- absolutely terrified. The director looked down and then Gadreel threw a punch- knocking him out. You crouched down and grabbed your pants- tugging them back upwards in a hurry.
âyou wore the panties with my name on them?â he asked- and you blushed as you tighten your belt- stepping over the unconscious director.
âfor good luck.â you choked out- and he smiled and followed after you- waiting till you guys reached the car before pulling you in for a heated kiss.
Would you remember that I existed here, by your side, warm as this coat, honest as this fire and just as destructive?
Sporadic popping of the fire, like kernels finding freedom in explosion. The remnants of logs glow brightly red as iron in the fire, as molten lava is prone to shine in one of the rumbling mountains they have in the North. It reminds Rhysand of emotion, how it radiates just as purely in composition as this. Love, heâd use, for the emotion is abundant, on the forefront of his mind and easy coming to him nowadays having found the destined partner of his soul and a child of his own. If love had a visual aspect, he suspects itâs much similar to things that shine; embers, stars in the sky, sun at midday. A thing which cannot be suppressed, of the same quality of effect on its surroundings as a fire. Almost a cough. How his eyes would water and his throat itch when the cough existedâeven he could not be in exempt from its demand to be released.
Another loud pop. Cassian is going on in soft timbers about a story heâs told them before countless of times that Rhysand has even memorized Cassianâs pauses in speech, his rhythm, when to laugh and chuckle. Rhysandâs knee aches faintly as it always does, as he sits on the log with arms crossed over his middle and his back caved as he watches the fire. He extends his leg with the offending knee, releasing a soft whistle of a sigh, blinks away bleary eyed tiredness as his mood settles down like a content house-cat for the night.
Cassian pauses for a second to sip more water, before going on about the garden fairy and the fire demonâtheyâll be boarding the ship to sail the great unknown sea in a few seconds. Azrielâs speared marshmallow sizzles in its spear of wood over the fire, its owner staring blank faced at the fire, uncaring for the treat. He sits in the sand, curled into himself and leaning against the log he is supposed to sit on. Rhys observes his posture quietly, notes that he is communicative with his revealed tenderness sheltered by his own arms hugging his knees and his wings spread on the log, yet how stony faced he is. He wonders what it says, about the fact heâs letting them know something gentle and raw is in him, but hiding its nature from them as he hides everything else.
Sometimes Rhys despises his secrecy, though it is the pillar on which their success in politics rests and Rhysâs many endeavors are owed to his brotherâs uncanny ability to get a person (even things) talking in any means. He blames Azrielâs still tongue for all the griefs entangling in the cords of their bondsâhow simpler would things be if the shadowsinger was as loose-tongued as his commander brother who couldnât hide his state of mind even if he wanted to?
The High Lord looks away before something unpleasant can flare in him, back to the fire, its dancing tantalizing flames of orange and white and red and yellow. Thereâs a bit of blue in there as well. The night breeze whips at them, at it. Sand blows over his bare feet, his hair is pushed back against his head. Feyre must be fast asleep now, with Nyx at her side. Rhys wonders if heâll have to make Cassian take Nestaâs sleeping corpse from their side, or if his sister-by-law is still up. Probably scouring the depths of Helionâs libraries.
The fairy boards the ship. The fire demon hesitates.
âBut he stopped and he said: But will you not worry about my fire sinking this ship? Perhaps I am not meant to live my dreams, only to dream them,â Azriel murmurs beneath his breath into the sea air, in sync with Cassianâs narrative. Itâs one of Rhysandâs favorite stories, in all honesty. Heâs going to tell it to Nyx as soon as his son is old enough to understand it.
âAnd what will I do when I accomplish my dream, he asked. Perhaps I am too afraid to lose it.â Rhys mutters, unheard beneath Cassianâs strong vocal pattern.
âAnd the fairy turned to him: you are a brave dreamer. The strength of this accomplished dream will make you find another!â Cassian grins widely, and Rhys smiles softly back at him when he catches his eye.
âBut I am afraid,â Azriel goes on softly in the quiet, where it is the whistle of the wind, the shushing of the tide against the shore, and the crackling of the fire, his face tender with encrypted sadness. âCan I be brave if I am afraid?â
Even a small cough, Rhysand glances at his quiet brother.
âThat is the only time a person can be brave.â He beats Cassian to it softly, earning Azrielâs flickering gaze.
Even a small love.
He can swear itâs the ghost of a smile on Azrielâs lips before they disappear behind his knees. Something friendly in his eyes that Rhys hasnât seen for himself in a long, long time. It makes him pause, makes his heart squeeze violently, his mouth to dry up before he looks away. He doesnât need his eyes to water now, thereâs no way to explain it, or wave aside the miasma itâll bring on them.
He reminds himself of duty, responsibility, and the fact he is a ruler as well as a friend and brother and sometimes he has to choose to be a ruler instead of family.
Everything seems much brighter and sharper now. Visceral in a way Thor could have only imagined before. From the rough, scratchy texture of the pavement underneath his bruised knees to the wet, cold slide of rain down his naked, shivering body.
Another shudder runs through his body, his hands instinctively wrapping around his chest in a futile attempt at warming himself. He has never been cold before. Now, Thor knows he had never actually known what cold even means. It was but a word to him. An idea. Much as longing, sadness, fear.
Desire.
Blinking against the wetness running down his face, Thor sucks in a harsh breath. It... hurts. Everything hurts. Every part of him aches. His skin, his flesh, his bones. Even... even what he no longer has hurts - a dull, throbbing pain where his wings used to be.
So this is what it means to be mortal, Thor thinks with a sudden, intense flare of something in the hollow of his chest - kneeling on the cold, unforgiving ground, where even the simple act of breathing makes him think his new, frail body will shatter from the effort.
A sound - soft click of steps against the concrete, barely heard over the sound of rain and Thorâs own harsh breathing - draws Thorâs attention, his heart starting to beat faster.
But Thor does not look up. He does not need to do so. He knows who it is.
âYou look pathetic.â The voice sounds the same - soft, smooth and low, sliding along Thorâs skin like a ghost of a touch. It draws another shudder from Thor. Â âGodâs mighty warrior.â
Thor keeps his head hanging low. It looks like fear, like cowardice, like dishonor, but he cannot make himself care enough to break the illusion. He stays kneeling and shivering, wondering will his first day as a human also be his last.
It would not take much. A mere flick of a wrist, and Thor would be dead. But no attack comes.
âLook at me.â Loki commands.
Thor does not obey. He is not entirely certain why. It is... too much. He feels too much, drowning in myriad of sensations flaring along his nerve endings.
âI said,â Lokiâs voice comes out sharper, impatient. âLook at me, Thor.â
And it is his name, not the promise of pain in Lokiâs voice which makes Thor raise his head, his eyes meeting Lokiâs.
And for the first time, Thor sees only his mortal shell, not the actual demon inside.
âSo. It takes so little to bring an angel down. Even one as powerful as you.â Loki smirks, his green eyes glinting with malice and something else. Something which coils around Thorâs chest and squeezes. Hard. âA couple of lies and convenient half-truths to make him doubt.â
Thor stares at the face looking down on him, both familiar and foreign. Then, a sound bursts from his mouth. He knows what it is, but never before has laughter sounded so ugly to his ears. So desperate.
A small crease appears on Lokiâs forehead, a brief hint of red seeping into clear green.
âNo.â Thor whispers, his voice coming out harsh and raw, each word leaving a bright trail of pain as it leaves his mouth. But it pales in comparison to the sensation splintering his chest in two. âTo make him want.â
