Danny never felt the urge to leave more than now anywhere else and its driving him insane.

"Ma'am..." He slowly says, eyes on the reporter who stuck her microphone into his face unpromoted and asked to elaborate on ghosts.

"We aren't those... Halloween folks, you ever.watched Rise of the Guardians, lady?"

The woman nods quickly.

"Same concept and principle, we're all just variants of Jack Frost, but unlike him, we weren't chosen by the moon man."

He's flying away before she can even respond, sighing once up in the sky.

Basically, Jack Frost but Danny phantom him.

Jack doesn't actually die in the lake, but the moon marks him as the winter spirit when his time comes, she acknowledged his actions and chooses him but because he was saved he didn't fully die.

Because of this she is blocked from guiding him in anyway. But he has a limited amount of access to the power he will gain once his death fully takes, when he uses the powers (maybe just the frost/ice while 'human') his eyes take on the icy blue of his spirit form.

He has an attachment to the staff but doesn't fully understand why it is important to him just that it is (maybe he brushes it off as being useful in his daily life)

The moon is hopefull that he can use this time to learn his core on his own since she can't guide him to the other guardians to help him, she tried guiding them to him instead but as he is still alive they can't risk getting close. Tooth is the only one able to safely monitor him and uses that to keep him off of pitch blacks radar.

- Open to interpretation of if he is a halfa or just liminal, maybe as he grows stronger with his powers and learns more about what they actually mean he gains more access to his spirit traits like his hair gets white streaks as he uses his powers or something.

Do you think Jack Frost got blamed for things Danny would do while learning his ice powers?

Would Danny be able to see Jack even if he doesn't believe bc Jack is a ghost/spirit?

Would Jack be excited to see someone sort of like him? Jealous? (until he sees the reactions of the people to Phantom?)

Would Danny try to fight him at first sight?

Would they have summer snowball fights just bc they could?

Would Jack see this little kid (pre accident danny) who hates Christmas, sees/hears the parents arguing, and does his best to give the kid and his sister a good time?

If we're going the route of the 'phantom was their own entity and got forcibly merged with Danny at the time of the accident' au - what if Phantom *was* Jack Frost and now they both have to figure out what all that is.

Think that Pitch becomes more of a presence in Danny's life post-accident? I mean, he'd have a whole lot more fears (being caught, too injured, not being able to catch up in school, of failing to save ppl or in school, the safety of his friends etc). Does Pitch become a regular visitor? Feed off that fear?

Does he grow a heart bc as much as he wants people to fear he doesn't want anyone to *die* and Danny's fears (most of them) are about that very real possibility (or at least ending or even worse - not ending and having to exist in a particular state over and over again for forever) ?

Would Danny deck Santa if he saw him? Try to beg him to end his parent's yearly argument? Deck him after Santa says 'not?

Like how about an au where Danny is fresh out of the portal and is having an identity crisis or something.

Jack senses this negative energy and comes to investigate only to find this ghost? human? spirit? and Jack helps Danny cope with the fact that he's dead(?)

If you want to add more conflict, Danny adamantly refuses the idea, saying no, he's still human! and with his fragile emotional state sporadically switches between ghost and human forms.

Jack is now even more confused and tries to reassure Danny that just because he may be dead, doesn't mean he's not human anymore.

insert family trauma about how all his life he was taught that ghosts were evil monsters

Maybe Jack brings in Tooth and/or Nicholas "find your center" St. North because they're good at these things.
