Blog post from Dayra Frias: The home stay was the best part of the entire trip. It made me value this opportunity of coming to Korea even more due to how well I was treated. We did not stay with extremely wealthy families, so to see how much the families did for us and to see how the families were going out of their ways in order to assure we were comfortable, really opened my eyes on how selfless people are in Korea. Selfless is very rare to an American due to how selfish the American culture usually is. After the home stay I am convinced I have made another family in Korea , and I am looking forward to continue to grow the friendships I have made and found due to the homestay.
Blog post from Xaviera Zime: Honestly, I wasn't nervous about the homestay. The only thing is that before the homestay I didnt know the extent to which the people were giving. I knew how Mr. Hur would say Koreans are nice and giving people and I sorta believed it but then again I would only fully believe it once I saw it. My homestay family didn't have much but my mom still gave me a good breakfast every morning, my sister still bought me ice cream and a present, and the family still bought me a lot of snacks. Their culture reminds me a lot of my culture which I liked a lot because my culture and Korean culture are vastly dissimilar to American culture. I think the similarity in cultures is what made me like my homestay family even more. I loved 민지 and 지윤. The ladder was a bit shy but she was nice and she was very welcoming. She never wanted me to feel left out and would bring me to meet her friends. She was humble and her brother was so shy it was adorable. 민지 though was kind of crazy and I liked it. She had a lot of personality and presence
Blog Post from Brianna Campbell: One memory I will keep with me forever is the homestay! Just the facts the that this family was willing to open up heir home to a strange is beautiful in its self. The family was so nice and welcoming. I truly do admire the time and work that the family put in order to make me feel as comfortable as possible. And the fact that the family bought me prescription glasses, I feel so blessed and happy. My family made feel at home, I just couldn't ask for anything more.
DPCHS and Seondeok: half a world apart, but sister schools at heart. 🇰🇷🇺🇸

We had so much fun at our sister school! The students definitely did not want to get on the bus back to Seoul.

Yesterday in Korea was a great experience. The amazing race was a great time to bond with small groups and explore Seoul. I really enjoyed the Gyeongbok Palace and riding the subway in Korea. The subway system is much cleaner and smoother than back NYC. Our tour guides may have not been fluent in English so we really exercised all the Korean we have been learning. It was enjoyable to be able to apply all we have learned and actually hold a conversation. The Korean BBQ I ate was the best meal I had in Korea so far. I enjoyed shopping in Seoul even though items are a little pricey😂. Lastly my favorite part was the karaoke where we ridiculously sang the best songs . Yesterday in Korea was a day to remember.
Someone cannot contain how excited they are to get to South Korea.
